You're very welcome! Suffering through this is very isolating. I hope that whatever decision you make is the right one for you. I'm sorry this has happened to you. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I hope things improve soon for you. I think mine was one of the worst cases, so you may fare much better. Please keep me posted. You can always email me. Emailing one of the other women on this site has helped me immensely. She was farther along and gave me encouragement on my darkest days and hope that this might end someday. If I can pay that forward, I'm happy to do so.
The skin stretching/wrinkles are happening now. I was told that after a few weeks, the product meshes too much with your own tissue to be removed. The doctors told me that if there is still product remaining at the time of surgery, then there is a chance that it will leave an indented scar after the product dissipates (because they may accidentally remove healthy tissue). All the improvement I've seen occurred over the first three months (as the carrier fluid dissipated). Since then, I've been pretty much the same. You are still early in the process, so you may see more improvement than I have. Hang in there. I hope you see improvement soon. Mine was extremely disfiguring from the start. It has improved some, but is still VERY disfiguring. I wear glasses all the time to try to hide it and the only time I leave the house if for work. The people I've talked to on this site who have gotten better have varying timeframes. One said 4 months (I wish I had been so lucky!!). Others have said closer to two and a half years. At this point, I'm hoping mine will go away within the next year. My doctor thinks much of what is left is inflammation, but who knows. Most say the product lasts 12-18 months in the FDA approved areas. Under the eyes is unclear. Many say that it can last longer there, but no one really knows how long. I know it's all consuming. Almost 20 months later, my life is completely altered. It's been miserable. I'm hoping there will be light at the end of the tunnel eventually. But, for now, all I can do is wait. Fraxel and fractionated Co2 haven't worked for me yet. I wish the best for you and will post on here when my lump finally goes down or if I ever find anything else that helps. I hope you'll do the same.
No doctor wants to perform surgery, because it may leave an indented scar. Plus, some believe it is inflammation, which surgery can't fix. I've been suffering for approximately 20 months. My doctors say I must continue to wait. The disfigurement is a nightmare. I would have paid anything and travelled anywhere to fix it (I still would), but apparently that isn't possible. Instead, the damage continues to the skin as it continues to be stretched and forms wrinkles and creases that I never would have had otherwise. If you find a doctor who can help, please let us know. There are many who continue to suffer. I've heard of successful surgery to remove lip nodules. I've never heard of it regarding the tear troughs. I'm sorry you're experiencing this. It's just a never ending nightmare.
Hi JK: what procedure did they do and did it help? I'm at almost 20 months. I had deep fx 10 days ago, but so far it hasn't helped. I think I have lots of product left. But I also have swelling, so I'm interested in what you've done.
