Its not a mad thing to do,i was 47! you wont be that immobile, you just need to be careful especially with any lifting, but you will be so glad you did it, it makes such a difference to your life. Hopefully you will get support off your family, my Husband was great, so was my Daughter, so i guess i was lucky.
You have come this far, only a few more days to go, but it will be worth it.
Let me know how you go on. Good luck and take care.

I was in Hospital for 2 nights, due to my op being later in the day and not back to my room until 9.30pm. Felt pretty good the following day, but took me a few days to get over the anesthetic. I took 3 weeks off work, its more a feeling of being tender and not wanting anyone to close more than anything. I had dressings on for a week. I struggled with lifting as i was quite achey but otherwise felt well. The only painkillers i took were paracetamol. I must say i was both nervous and excited to have it done, but was more apprehensive after because i found it so odd looking down to a small chest after all the years of having such a big one!! and i got quite upset wondering if i had done the right thing and if my husband wouldnt like the scars, but after a bit of a cry i was so glad i went ahead beacuse its after you realise how much more confidence you have to wear the cloths you always wanted to but never could, that was the best feeling. The first dress i bought after was a fitted black dress, i picked it up in a store tried it on and it fitted, i cryed again in the fitting room as i had not been able to wear a dress for years.
I am happy to answer any questions i can for you. Are you in the same area (Rochdale!)
Hope all goes well and you are happy with the results.
    Take care x

I am doing fine thank you. So glad i went ahead with the procedure, it was the best thing i have ever done. The great feeling of being able to walk into a shop and buy a dress or a bikini, which is something i have not been able to do for years is wonderfull. The scares are still quite pink and raised in places, but they are not sore, and i am told they will lesson as time goes on. If you are thinking of going ahead with a breast reduction, from my experience i would say it is well worth it and go for it.

Not sure which procedure, what are they, i can find out. I have incision under each breast going up then around the nipple. The nipple was left attached but repositioned. The top part of the dressing was taken off the following morning (i had the surgery late afternoon and took 3 1/2 hours) then the dressings stayed on for a week then removed. Been tender until last week or so but the scaring is a bit tender but otherwise i am fine. Was back to work after 5 weeks but depending on your job it could have been earlier. Cost was £4370, but i had discount as i also work at the hospital.
