Me, too! I would have sought a plastic surgeon. The dermatologist/Mohs surgeon did the surgery, harvested the graft, and left his PA to do the rest. I know that many PA's may be good at stitching. However, I have a hard time comparing a PA to a plastic surgeon! There's something wrong with this picture. No wonder I have a nasty scar.
I haven't checked each one listed but all from Columbia,SC seem to be inactive. That's not surprising. SC isn't exactly a mecca for great medical care.
I'm not sure I can get through the cadre of PA's to communicate my concerns directly to the surgeon. The normal procedure for his office is to have no follow up at all with the surgeon after the actual surgery and just to follow up with my dermatologist in 6 months. I didn't know what to expect, how it should look, how it should heal, etc. I insisted on seeing my dermatologist sooner and was reluctantly set up for 4 weeks. It just all seems odd to me. Perhaps that's the direction health care is headed. Any wisdom on that is appreciated! Thanks for your concern and I will give an update after the appointment.
