It has been close to 3 years for me. My skin did improve but it is not back 100% nor can I say I had any improvements. At a year, I would look at Retin A if your skin can handle it. I also had a TCA peel which proved my skin dramatically. It has been almost 3 months ago with no adverse reactions to date. I don't obsess with my skin nearly as much as I did that first year and longer. I hate the hypopigmentation. I had a Derm tell me it looked like I had picked my acne which is not the case since I never had acne. I plan to have more peels but the down time is two weeks....one week of really, really bad. I drive 6 hours to see this Derm but with time and patience, I think my skin should continue to improve. What have you tried?
Addressing....wrinkles, large pores, discoloration and crepey skin: I have seen great improvement with Cetaphil (wash), Exfoderm (Obagi) and Sunscreen (any with high SPF) in the am then Blender (Obagi) with Retin A (prescription) in the pm. I was red as a beet for 6 months but I saw improvement. I had to stop in the summer because my kids play lots of outdoor sports. I had a TCA peel in August with good results. I will need a few more but I am hopeful. I wash with Cetaphil then sunscreen in the am then a hydroquinone and Retin A (doctor compound) at night. When I go back for my second peel, I am going to ask about adding an acid in the am or Vitamin C.
Since you are still early in you damage, I would address the texture then the sagging. I believe healing takes a lot longer than they claim and you would still see skin firming up. If you treatment was agressive then it would take longer.
I had a TCA done 6 weeks. I'm having another in a couple of weeks. My color improved greatly. I've also seen great texture improvement. I'm certain fillers are in my future but I am hopeful.
Have you tried daily shaving? It is the poor man's dermsanning but it is effective. My peel Derm has me shaving everyday, using a compound of Retin A and hydroquinone every night. I live in the deep Sputh and the sun is brutal but I've had no rebounding.
