Reno Deb Happy you have had great results. Hope you continue to do so. However, I HURT about 50% of my waking hours underneath my eyes in the exact area under the eye (the bag area) I had the treatments with the Palmomar 1540 done. I had 3 monthly spaced treatments upper lid, lower lid and goat-t area around the mouth. (8/20/08, 9/25/08, 10/30/08). The tech used the highest setting because quite frankly, during the time from 8/20/08-10/30/08, I had little problems other than what I felt was normal pain and swelling. I was relatively ok until the pain started around Thanksgiving of 2008. I am not going to shut up or go away. I am going to tell my story and who listens, does. I can't undo what has been done. I can only pray that in time, I will get better. I have been to countless doctors and ruled out all of the other possiblities, sinus infection or other sinus problems, TMJ, ear infection/problems. Another derm agrees this pain is most likely from laser but he does believe I will heal in time. And yes, the opthamologist believes the eye issues (ocular rosacea, dry eye, blepharitis) were definately caused by the laser treatments. He does believe I will get better. Do I look better, not at all. Do I look worse, no (unless you consider I can't wear my contacts or eye makeup). I just hurt, sometimes really bad. The pain comes in waves and lasts about 2-3 hours -- starts off slow, increases, reaches a point where I want to die, starts to recede. The original derm's office that did the procedures, denies any responsibility. In fact, she is rather rude about being called on what is going on with me. "It does not go deep enough to cause burns, scars or damage enough to cause the pain I am experiencing" -- she says it over and over again. She acts as though it is personal -- and if I can get the necessary paperwork it will be -- in a courtroom. If I can get those statements from the above doctors in writing, I will begin litigation. I hope I am one in a million. I hope they perfect this and we all look 27 at 127 years of age. I hope no one experiences what I am going through. This procedure is not the walk in the park that everyone is spouting. It has risks. Buyer beware. Debora

Of course I have already done that. Twice. "Can't be related to the procedure" Bull.

awalk I didn't understand the first part of your comment. Have you had the same or similiar issues?

Well, four eye doctor's and two dermatologists later, I have answers. I have ocular rosacea (with the accompanying "dry eye," blepharitis, styes) brought on by the laser treatments. I have had facial rosacea for several years. I am on doxycycline and found an aggressive eye doctor who believes my prognosis is good and that I will be wearing contacts again in early March and eye make-up (conservatively) shortly thereafter. I would not do this procedure again. If I were nuts enough to consider it again, my first stop would be the eye doctor to find out if the illnesses brought on could be avoided.

DO NOT DO THIS LASER RESURFACING WITH THE PALOMAR AROUND YOUR EYES! I had my third treatment 10/30/2008. I can no longer wear contacts. I feel like something is lodged in my eye all of time. I had several styes which left scars on my upper lids. Of course all of these problems didn't happen until the third treatment. My life is miserable. I can't wear eye make-up, especially mascara. I can't wear contacts so I can't do the things I love (horseback riding, boating). My eye hurts all of the time. I have been to two eye doctors and they keep giving me anti-biotics. DO NOT USE THIS AROUND YOUR EYES!
