  • Posted to Nose is Too Upturned/REALLY Swollen After Rhinoplasty on 13 Jan 2013

I wrote this question a year and a half ago. My nose looks normal now, and is not upturned at all. It started looking better at 2 months for me, and by 6 months, it had come down to where i wanted it. Good luck! And don't worry, you will heal in time.
  • Posted to Did you lose facial fat after rhinoplasty? on 12 Jan 2013

A few months ago, I posted here about loss of facial volume after my rhinoplasty. Well, today when I was feeling around my face (yes, I do that), I noticed that my cheekbones were fuller! When I smile, I have the look of higher, fuller cheekbones. My eye hollows are back to normal, too. I was so depressed for a while, thinking my face would look sunken forever. I haven't gained any weight since, so I attribute this improvement to my body's healing process. If you're having this problem, don't worry, and know that in time, your face will rebuild itself. Make sure to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet full of protein and adequate vitamins (especially C and A). Also remember that exercising truly does help, as it circulates blood in the face. I also tried the Tanaka massage for a while, and did see some results, but have since stopped, as I did not see that much of an improvement. Maybe facial exercises are a better choice. Regardless, the entirety of the instructions for Tanaka are on Youtube. Good luck, and remember: our bodies are always looking out for us!

    Robyn,
I really appreciate how you've written about your experiences with this whole thing. I'm exactly one year post-op, and now have hollowed-out cheeks, saggier jowls, and sunken eyes. It's mostly noticeable to just myself, but it's still bothersome. I'm only 22, but I have nasolabial lines I did not have before the procedure. The natural fullness of my face is gone, and people keep asking if I've lost weight, which is annoying because I haven't. I've just lost volume in my face.
Anyway, you say that your facial fullness was restored eventually, right? If so, I'm so relieved! I've been trying out different facial massages, and the Tanaka one seems to be a good one, as it focuses on lifting the sagging skin. How often did you do facial exercises?
    Thank you so much.
