How are you doing? I had tt with hernia repair on 2/2 and the going is still rough. I think it is a little harder than with the tt only done plus I still have a drain which I hope to have removed on Monday if it has slowed down enough. I am 70 years young and have had a flap hanging from my tummy for quite a while due to having surgeries in the past to have children plus exploratory surgery and hysterectomy and hernia repair done in 1998. I am glad I have finally done this for ME and I am getting better every day. I am also changing my eating habits at this time in order to lose a few pounds and to help with going to the bathrooom. If you find yourself having to strain in order to have bm's, take a ducolax laxative and drink water. I make it a habit to drink a glass of water every time I have to pee. I am praying you get better every day and look forward to the day that you can stand tall and proud.....

So glad everything went so well for you. Please take it real easy and let someone else do for you. Use your walker and it will relieve your back. talk to you later....

Hi Mommy73, I had my tt and hernia repair on the same date as yours and also got the pain pump. You are so right, it has been so hard and worst than most people say. I am older than you but I think the issues are about the same. I use a protein drink that gives me more energy and my ps says to just use this time to relax and watch movies and read. Make sure to drink lots of water and take stool softners. hang in there girlfriend.......

Brender, I am 70 years young and like you I had surgeries in the past and a hernia so I had my tt on Feb 2nd. I had a pain pump which I would highly recommend because it last about three days and it completely numbs the area which gives you time to get your bearing before the real pain comes roaring in and believe me when I say it will be bad. The pain pills work but make sure you are taking stool softners and if they don't work in three or four days you will have to use a suppository(mispelled). I got a walker from goodwill and it will be worth it for you because it saves your back. Make sure you have lots of support for preparing your meals, helping with your binder and drains, etc. I did not use a recliner because I wanted to be in my bedroom for more rest and privacy. As far as you grandchildren, it would be a good idea to show the older one how to give you hugs and kisses without being too close and tell them it is because you are going to have an operation. My granddaughter is two and she leans over to kiss me and understands why and that is why it is so important to be very open with them about everything and the walker helps to keep them from running up to you at times. This surgery is very serious and hard so be prepared to be out of commission for at least 6 weeks. You will read many things but my ps is one of the best and he says it is crazy to think you can be cut like this and be back and running in no time, I have many other things to share with you so if you want, just get back to me with your questions. By the way, I am 70 in age but in looks, strength and spirit, most people think I am 50......
