I am not here to convince a total stranger about what I eat. I have no motivation to lie or make up stuff. In fact, I am not buying your a chiropractor, hows that. I am just shocked that somebody who is a DC of all things, is so ignorant. A person who eats only 800 calories a day will in fact lose weight, but at the same time your body goes into crisis and starvation mode, saving every calorie you eat as stored fat. If I ate 1800 calories a day and did nothing, I would be huge. In fact, I would expect this mentality from an MD who thinks western medicine is the only way to treat a problem, but from a DC who is supposed to be more open minded about alternative therapies, its just shameful.
Thyroid disease is no different than any other gland that stops working, Are you saying that a diabetic with no ability to create insulin from their pancreas should just stop taking medicine because the side effects of long term insulin use are worse? A woman who no longer produces hormones because her ovaries stop releasing eggs does not need treatment? A man who is losing his drive and hair could not benefit from testosterone therapy? My thyroid is not working well, it does not produce enough hormones to keep me alert all day (I drank coffee), my metabolism at a normal rate (I worked out more), my eyebrow hair from falling out ( got them tattooed back on), dry skin (I bought every lotion on the market), constipation (ate more fruit, more fiber, more coffee), heavy periods (had endometrial ablation), cold feet (I wear socks to bed) I am simply replacing hormones that my body cannot make naturally, which is T3 and T4. Many people have had their thyroid removed completely and they need lifetime thryroid medication or they will in fact die.
As far as weight loss programs and gimmicks, most of them dont work for any long period of time unless the person changes their lifestyle permanently, but they do help those that need these programs to put them on the right path and some are more sucessful than others. I agree there are many people who simply eat too much, go to McDonalds every week, eat crap all the time and are fat for a reason. However, there are many others who have underlying issues that are undetected;untreated because people just assume they are overeating.
I agree with you on the last comment, but your remarks about "simply eating less" dont help those that have weight issues that are completley unrelated to the amount of food fhey consume and it reinforces the stigma that people are fat because they are lazy and shove food in their face. Weight loss is more than a simple decision, because if it were that easy far fewer people would be fat and looking for help. I probably only eat about 800 calories to 1000 calories per day, plus I am active outside and in the gym. In fact, I eat less now and healthier meals than when I was 25-35 years old. But for women especially, childbirth, aging, menopause, hormone changes, underactive thyroid and other metabolic issues can wreck your body and your ability to lose even the smallest amount of weight. I really resent people like you who shame me into feeling I am fat because I simply cram too much food in my piehole and then sit around and complain about how nothing works. Fortunately for me, I have a doctor that listens and finally ran thyroid tests that I have begged for over 3 years to have - sure enough, there was a problem, extremely low Free T3 and Free T4 - plus I had almost NO vitamin D in my system. I also have adrenal fatique, which happens when your body is running on fumes and exhausted for years. With the right medication I am finally able to stay awake past 3pm, I am regular for once in my life, my hair is growing back, I can spend more time in the gym, I can drive without practically falling asleep at the wheel, the weight has slowly melted off 1 pound per week with NO change in my diet, because I barely ate as it was. Until I knew about this problem, I thought I had no choice but to chase these miracles because nothing was working and thought I was crazy and I knew it was not from eating too much.
Sorry to see that you ended up wtih a droopy eye. I hear Dysport is thinner and can spread quicker which can cause it to relax muscles it is not intended to. I was also told by a RN that did mine there is a very small spot along the brow line arch that you need to stay away from when injecting, because if injected there it can flow to other unwanted areas. It takes a while to wear off, so hopefully your eye will be "normal" again soon.
Hi Kristi - I had the same results... at first. My skin looked great, felt smooooooooth and the brown sun spots flaked off. I got compliments from people who said my skin looked great (they didnt know that I had done anything, they were just spontaneous compliments) Then, reality set in a few months later. I started getting clogged pores and little pimples, which of course I pinched only to leave behind deep red and purple scarring as if my skin was so thin the slightest pinch would leave a red mark. It looked like I burned my face with a cigarette. I tried really hard not to squeeze the pimples or do it gently.. but seriously... who can help it right? I also noticed my skin looked a different texture... like a dry lakebed.. I moisturized..(got more pimples of course) I stupidly went for more IPL not making the connection... it was good again... then got worse again... I am confident the IPL fried the thin layer of healthy fat under my face and left my skin extremly thin and prone to clogged pores/pimples. Please please please post an update if you notice these changes and watch your skin to see if anything seems different.
I had IPL as well last year. I only did it for some brown spots from the sun. He was a board certified plastic surgeon, but that doesnt mean ANYTHING! After the treatment my skin felt smooth to the touch and all the brown spots flaked off. I was happy,.... AT FIRST...He must have had the machine at maximum setting because afterwards my face felt like it was frying. He also got too close to the corner of my eye and caused a nasty burn under my eye that bruised, I looked like I had a shiner. There was a also a small red blood vessel that I never had before surface on my nose, that was bleeding for weeks. Now my skin looks different, I am confident he liquified the fat under my skin and it's permanent damage.
