I am so relieved to have found this site. As I have gone through hell watching my daughter's once beautiful face change so drastically after having jaw surgery. Her nose is only now after 2 years starting to look normal. I was so angry with the orthodontist and oral surgeon for not explaining the whole swelling procedure to me. My darling girl stopped wearing makeup and avoided mirrors. The pain I felt for her was unbearable.
What I have read has given me so much relief! Bless you all! The last time I saw my daughter, I noticed that her nose has slimmed down her nostrils are larger but hopefully she will consider nostril reduction in the future.
My daughter had jaw surgery in 2009 and her once beautiful nose resulted in becoming wider and turned up so her nostrils flared and became visable a real piggy look! I was heartbroken like you and had to see a therapist as I couldn't sleep at night and the guilt I felt was unbearable.
It has taken two years for the face to finally settle the nose has slimmed down, the nostrils are larger than they were but the nose is not as turned up as it was.
I feel for you and would love to know your daughters progress now.
