I am scheduled to have a mini TT and hysterectomy simultaneously in 12 days. My hemogloblin level is 9.6. I am an American, but I am currently living in Italy. The hospital here wants me to do a blood transfusion. With my hemoglobin level at 9.6, and I only started taking iron supplements 4 days ago, does this seem premature?
I have alpha Thalasemmia. My hemo is9.7 , A2 quant 2.0, 33 hemocrit. Im a weight loss patient who would like a extended Tummy tuck and Lipo, but Most surgeons will not take me unless hemo is 12+, my doc says I will never be over 10 with Alpha Thalasemma. Is the lipo my risk? Or the extended Tummy Tuck my risk? What would be a safe way to address my post weight loss skin/shape with my blood condition? mcv=71, mch=20.6, rdw=19.3
im planing on have a tt,with lipo and maybe a breast lift just got back my lab works and my hemoglobin level is 11.3 i need to be at least a 12.0 to have my sx.how can i build it up quickly can i ask my primary doctor for iron shots????
Hi, Im having a tummy tuck in 2 weeks. I have thalassemia so Im used to my hemo being low. Its currently at 10.5 - what are the standards for thalassemia patients who may always have that low of a count and iron therapy isnt recommended for thalassemia patients. My surgeon knows I have it and I sent her lab results, I have my pre-op later today but with all the research Ive done this morning Im concerned about a delay. I obviously want to be in the beat health possible for surgery
I'm scheduled to have a extended tummy tuck on 6/29 with Dr. Robert Hunsaker. My preop labs since March 2017 have been coming back with low hemoglobin. As of 3/25/17 it was 9.2, on 6/7/17 it was 9.5 and has of 6/21/17 it's 9.4. I'm currently on iron, folic acid and b-12. My surgeon stated he is okay with moving forward with my plan surgery. I just would like some second opinions.
