So the surgeon said I should leave the necrotic skin to slough off and heal on its own. I should expect it to turn very black and then to let the body do its work. But now I have a seroma. And she seems to be scared to remove the fluid from the site (she isnt telling me this, but I can tell). Should the necrotic skin be debrided first and then seroma drained or can the seroma be drained without touching the necrotic skin?
I don't know how to describe it. My output in my JP drain has doubled and it is full of slimy white chunks, like fat, or protein, or something like that. Is this anything to be worried about? There are a lot coming out and they make my JP rather heavy and difficult to empty.
I got a tummy tuck 32 days ago the drain was removed on day 13th. The scabbed closed but then a stich was coming out the doctor removed the scab. He called it detriment and then told me I didnt have an infection and that I could shower and just cover it with gauze and clean only with water and mild soap. Its been 3 days since he removed scab and did debriment... Im so scared how is this looking? Only stains a tiny bit.
im having a real hard time understanding neucrosis. not the cause of it but the treatment of it. my doc noticed it the DAY AFTER full abdominalplasty. condition worsened over 3 weeks. I was on oral antibiotics and sylvadine cream. 3 weeks later, it was so bad, and got debrided by p.s.. within 48 hours I was flown out .. wound vac placed on. was hospitalized for 17 days.needed skin graft. I am horribly scarred and wondering what a doctor should do once they notice skin neucrosis.. someone help!!!
I do not smoke, I eat pretty well, and am 39 years old. I am 5 weeks post tummy tuck and lipo. At two weeks I had wound separation. I understand it happens to about 20% of patients due to blood flow issues. I've seen my surgeon once a week since then. He has debrided the opening twice. I'm doing wet to dry gauze several times a day. I'm just curious how often this occurs and how long it will take to close up. Also, how do I know it's actually healing? The wound is 4 inches in length and 1 inch wide.
2 weeks post op started to have necrosis issues day 8-9. Went to PS yesterday for check up and had debridement done. Was told wet to dry dressings 2x daily. So far the wound has been to weepy to dry the dressing. I had possible necrosis with my belly button but used a triple antibiotic ointment and its healing fine now. Can I use mupirocin instead of wet to dry dressing? Or do a dry dressing so I can debride it better? Unsure of how to manage my wound. I go back next again week.
