I have been on Suboxone for 6 years. My doctor said it will be ok but I am truly freaking out about going under anesthesia and how to deal with pain during post op. Doctor did recommend exparel but that last only three days.
I'm getting a tummy tuck done with some lipo. Which is safer to use? Exparel or standard bupivacaine? My PS told me that he would rather use standard bupivacaine because Exparel will interact unfavorably with the anesthetic used for the liposuction.
I am highly allergic to morphine. What medication is an alternative they can use during my tummy tuck? Im having the Exparal injection. I also have a latex allergy will they have alternatives? Morphine allergy heart rate drops drastically and they give me a epinephrine shot. Same with latex
Hi, I had a tummy tuck with liposuction yesterday morning. I have been in a lot more pain than expected. I had the Experell, but it didnt seem to work. Now, I am at home and in a lot of pain. I am alternating muscle relaxers and Percocet, but my pain level only comes down a little and doesnt last long. Is this normal? I know I have a very low pain threshold, but this seems extensive considering the other patient comments.
I am almost 4 weeks post op with a fantastic recovery - diastasis hernia / muscle repair, drainless, painless (Exparel) abdominoplasty, after 3 big kids. Very happy with results + recovery so far. Although I was walking straight after a week or so, my posture is not yet back to normal, due to the tightness under my bust. I am used to walking with a strong back, shoulders back but I seem to be defaulting to a less good posture. Can I do small back bends to try to 'fix' this or should I just wait.
I would like to have a tummy tuck and have been researching pain management that goes along with the recovery, I have heard of Surgeons using Exparel, But I read that some Drs have or use lidocaine instead? Whats the difference between Exparel and Lidocaine?
I came out of surgery with no pain in my abdomen (i got Exparel) and now on day 7, I still have no pain at all except when I cough. I take a few Valium and hydrocodone each day for the breast implant pain but Im shocked that I feel nothing where I should be having severe pain. So my question is- could this be a sign that my surgeon did not perform the plication correctly?Or could it be that because Ive had 2 c-sections and carried twins to 36 weeks that my pain receptors are all dead?
I am getting the Experal pain shot for a tummy tuck. When I get a shot to numb my mouth from the dentist my heart rate goes up and I feel nervous for about 15 minutes with upset stomach. My dentist always says that a lot of people have that reaction to the epinephrine in the shot. Im nervous about being put to sleep and an adverse reaction to the Experal pain shot.
I was quoted $1,500 for Exparel by the board certified P.S. I'm considering having a TT with at a surgery center. The $1500 is an addt'l cost just for the exparel alone, not for any part of the surgery itself. This seems exorbitant based on other quotes I've gotten and info I've found online. The Dr's office insists they don't mark the price up at all. Could that possibly be true? What do you charge for exparel? Is there a cheaper, generic, long-acting local that I could ask them to use instead?
