Sleeve gastrectomy, aka gastric sleeve surgery, is a weight-loss surgery that shrinks your stomach to help you lose weight. It’s a less invasive procedure compared to gastric bypass surgery as it doesn’t involve a reconstruction of your intestinal tract. Deciding whether gastric sleeve surgery is right for you is a detailed process. It could involve multiple consultations, a diet pla...

Hello! My surgery date is June 8th and I am very excited, a little nervous too but very excited.  I am 5'8 CW 265 and I start my pre op diet on May 31st with 1000 calories a day for 5 days and then liquids for the next 3 days before surgery.  I'm looking forward to meeting some June sleeve buddies so we can support each other.  Have a great day!

I just got the sleeve on 11/10/14, first 4 days were tough. Feeling a lot of stomach cramps & running a little fever. Dont have any issues yet ingesting protein or fluids in general.

My surgery is Jan 12th and I have started my two week protein diet. I have a headache and feel woozi. On top of it I caught the flu so I feel extra weak.. I feel my body going thru some major withdrawals. Is there anything that helped you guys through this period?

Today, the doctors office called me with a surgery date - May 29th. It's been so long in coming that it shocked me; it's so close. On top of that I had a very full "dance card" - that's what I call it now that I'm retired. So much to take care of quickly.I've had surgery before (not Bariatric) and I don't remember feeling scared, but this time I do. In some ways I feel like I'm over educating...

I'm having my op done may 3rd and am very scared is there anyone out there going in similar time to share journeys with please

You'd think that we'd be covered under medicare but as is typical of most of society, they think being overweight is as simple as "you eat too much therefore you are fat, its your own fault". While the food intake amount is true to an extent it is not always controllable as for many of us, our brains are telling us that were hungry, or they're not telling us when were full, so it is a medical...

I had my first bariatric doctors appointment on Jan 28, 2016. He said the sleeve would be best for me. I have Highmark BCBS and there is a 6 month waiting period. I have first dietician appointment Wed and Psychiatrist appointment on Thursday of this week. I'm looking for someone who may just be starting this same 6 month process now and would like to do it as a team. I'm a...

Hi all!I am scheduled for the GS on Sept 22nd - This has been a 10 yr process as I went to a seminar 10 years ago for the bypass and backed out, October 2013 I went to a 2nd seminar and the sleeve was very appealing.. so here I am almost a year later and a little over 2 weeks till surgery. They have put me on a 3 week liquid diet - 3 muscle milk shakes a day, broth, popsicles.. I dropped...

The road from inquiry to certifications to approval wasn't long for me. The longest requirement (the 7 month supervised diet) was part of the reason I was referred for VSG. I successfully dieted on 20+ pounds. The sleep apnea evaluation and certification was the second longest. I had to wear my CPAP for 10 consecutive days with the results being electronically uploaded to my doctor...

Scheduled for December 16th at OCC in Tijuana, MX!!!!

I've decided I wanted to travel for my sleeve surgery but I don't want to go on the journey by myself. I was curious to know if anyone was going to Tijuana in late Jan for a procedure. What are your thoughts and fears about the entire process?

Hi, I had my gastric sleeve operation on April 21st, 2015. Not quite at my 3 week mark. I have noticed that about a week after my surgery I a just hungry all the time. My pouch fills up quickly when I eat and I feel full quickly...just after 7 to 10 bites, almost. But within 30 minutes to an hour I'm hungry again. Stomach growling hunger! I was told going in that due to the stomach being...

I am having surgery October 5. I am starting to get nervous. Would love to have other people at the same stage to talk to.

Hi-  I am new to this forum. A little background on me: I am 46 yrs old, 220 pds, 5'3 and have been this weight for about 7 years. Before that I weighed around 170-180 pds.  And more than 10 years ago, I was a mere 130-140 pds and 20 years ago, I was barely 115.  The older I get (46 now), the more weight I gain and the harder it is to lose. I've been tested for...

Have changed the foods I am eating.  Go for 3rd meeting with dietician next week, pre-op with doc on 19th and surgery on 23rd.  I am having trouble getting 60g of protein in on normal amounts of food, can't imagine how to do it after.  Doctor tells me I will be able to consume 3 to 4 oz at a time.  I have a personal trainer lined up to work with me.  I am keeping a...
