I had septoplasty and radio frequency of my turbinates done 2 months ago. I am now being told I have exposed bone in my inferior turbinate where the mucosa was ablated too much. Will the mucosa tissue re grow to cover the exposed bone or will I have to have the bone removed?
I wanted to know why nasal septum cartilage regenerates and the lower and upper lateral cartilages in the tip of the nose do not, aren't they made of the same type of cartilage. Why does one regenerate and the other does not? I am assuming that there are more stem cells in the perichondrium of the nasal septum than in the lateral cartilages? It seems like if you remove the cartilage from septum during nose job a small or thin layer will regrow over a very long time. Can any doctors confirm this?
Hello, I have been using cocaine daily for about the past 9 months. I have recently stopped completely. As of now I do not have a hole in my septum, however when looking in to my nasal cavity I do see that there is a circular white spot on my septum. I am assuming this is damaged or dead nasal mucosa tissue. My questions is if this will heal on it's own? If so, what is the best way to encourage the healing so that the cartilage in the septum does not erode? Thanks!
