I have had two septoplastys. same surgeon. Both times, they have left my nose looking crooked and its hard to breathe. the nostril is colapsed on the right side. The first month I can breathe normal and it looks straight But then it colapses.. Possibly getting a third in Korea but I am wondering how successful It will be, and if they could revise my dorsal hump as well.. I am unsure if I have enough septal cartilage left, are there any procedures that can fix this problem?
I've had a deviated septum from birth and so do my other two brothers. I've always had allergies and massive nasal congestion, let's just say I blow my nose every day at least 20 times a day regardless if I have a cold. I am starting to notice many scabs in my nose from dry breathing. Also if I breathe fast enough the side with the deviated septum collapses.. Also, I'm wondering what the cost of something like this would cost? Without insurance. I'm in Greenville South Carolina
My insurance pre authorized a septum repair and bilateral alar graft. I know my nose may be slightly wider and I'm okay with that. Also will my tip come up every so slightly? It's a tiny bit dropy in my opinion Or will it remain identical . I assume it will come up a bit simply due to the alar grafts placed for my right side nasal collapse.. ....lastly why bilateral grafts when only the right nostril is collapsing?
After septoplasty I was left with a perforation which is lower down and not going to cause collapsed nose (so i have been told) however although i dont have stuffiness/whistling i do sometimes get blood & an uncomfortable flapping feeling in my nose. It feels like too much air gets into my nose which makes it dry, my nose never runs except for occasional clear non smelly water substance which just falls out, also bad headaches with top teeth pain and ear pain, could the hole be causing these?
When the splints were removed I could breathe! It got better each week. However, after about 6 months the bad side started to feel blocked again. I'm getting sinus infections again. I can't breathe out of my nose when I lay down. The bridge of my nose is now visibly flat. I also have a crease that runs halfway across the bottom portion of the bridge towards the tip. All of these things were not present before my surgery. Any advice?
Septoplasty has failed twice. It was originally deviated to the right, and after the surgery deviated to the left. Also, part of the cartilage in my nose had collapsed, so I went back in for a second surgery to get the grafting to my nose, and another septoplasty. It has once again failed, and I cannot blame it on swelling, because it has been a year since my second surgery. If there is such a high success rate, why am I breathing 95% in one nostril and 5% in the other?
Hi! I have had 3 rhinoplasties on my nose. I bumped my nose about a year ago, pretty hard after the 3rd. There was no blood, but 2 weeks later, I noticed a dent. I thought it was just scar tissue from the 3rd nose job. I went into an ENT recently and he said I have a deviated septum and wants to repair it. I want this as well, but I'm worried about how much more my nose can handle. Are there many complicated septoplasties like there are rhinoplasties, considering they don't break the nose?
Three years ago I had a septoplasty. I had no trouble breathing during the day, but a little bit at night with occasional snoring. Right after the tubes were taken out a week after the surgery, the airflow in the deviated left side of my nose felt abnormal, like I could breathe way too much. Within two hours, the side of my nose had collapsed, leaving no air flow at all. I also have to constantly unstick the outside of my nose from the inside. It has improved somewhat; will it ever heal itself?
