Hi. I need septoplasty with turbinate reduction. I have chronic allergic rhinitis. Allergies year round. My question is, would the surgery be useless or beneficial for me? Will my allergies interfere and cause turbinates to swell again? Does that make sense? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thx
I read that after septoplasty, it takes about a year for complete healing and settling of the nose. During this period, if nose gets blocked regularly due to allergies, does it cause the septum to deviate again? I had septoplasty when I was 20 years old, but it deviated again. I am 40 now. I am wondering if allergies caused it to deviate again.
My left turbinate has been swollen shut since my septorhinoplasty 10 months ago. I reached out to my surgeon and he prescribed me a nasal steroid spray. It did nothing. Went back 2 more times he told me its allergies. Got a second opinion and got lucky and got a same day appointment cause someone canceled but unfortunately that morning (before I called) I used a decongestant spray so the doctor literally did not believe that it was swollen. (No I do not use the spray often hardly once a month)
I've had a deviated septum from birth and so do my other two brothers. I've always had allergies and massive nasal congestion, let's just say I blow my nose every day at least 20 times a day regardless if I have a cold. I am starting to notice many scabs in my nose from dry breathing. Also if I breathe fast enough the side with the deviated septum collapses.. Also, I'm wondering what the cost of something like this would cost? Without insurance. I'm in Greenville South Carolina
I have sustained many injuries to my nose over the past 10 years. I have a large hump on the bridge of my nose that has built up over the years and also regularly get sinus infections. I have had a lot of trouble breathing through my right nostril most days but I can't breathe through it at all when my allergies flare up. I have very basic health insurance and I guess the biggest question is the cost of repairing my deviated septum and if the hump could also be removed during the procedure.
I know its sounds bad but i have very bad allergies and had them from birth, that means i need to blow my nose alot and i do, sometimes i get carried away and blow furiously and alsl try to pick my nose briefly untill i realize that what im doing is wrong. Thankfully i havent bled or suffered any significant pain, did i ruin my septoplasty? Yours, Adham
I had septoplasty and turbinate resection surgery 2 months a go. I feel as if this surgery did zilch for me. My Dr. Didn't see any perforation. But, I feel the same as I did the day before surgery. Realistically, how long does it take to see results? Was the surgery a failure? Maybe my allergies? I'm truly frustrated. Can someone please enlighten me? You're reply is much appreciated. Thnx
As a child I'd get frequent sinus infections & stuffy nose. I now have allergies & sleep issues. If I stick my finger up my nose, the middle cartilage seems to be slanted to one sidethough not visible when looking up my nostrils. A slight bridge deformity is noticeable in certain lighting/angles (pic 1) revealing an S shape. Both parents have more defined/taller bridges & sharper/less bulbous tip than mine. Could correcting the septum (if that's the issue) have ANY small aesthetic changes? Thnx
