I work in a private bar that sells cigars and allows smoking inside. The secondhand smoke is extremely heavy and my nose is usually very stuffy for 12 hours after I get off work. I want a rhinoplasty but am concerned about the heavy secondhand smoke effecting my surgery and healing process. How long should I take off work before and after surgery to ensure the best possible outcome?
I'll considering rhinoplasty. While I can take the necessary time off from work to recover, my concern is returning to work. I work in a smoke filled environment. I myself do not smoke but I imagine secondhand smoke would affect recovery some how? Does extended periods of time (4-6 hours) in a smoke filled environment harm me/my results? How long do i need to stay away from this smoke filled environment?
I recently moved into a new flat only to find the neighbours attached are heavy marijuana smokers and the smell comes through very strong and lasts for hours. I had open rhinoplasty 5 years ago but am concerned this consistent exposure will affect my results as my nasal tip still gets swollen from secondhand smoke of any kind, and I've had multiple steroid injections because of this. Should I be concerned and could this influence new scar tissue formation or cause change to my nose in anyway?
One of my best friends is having a birthday party in a bar this evening that allows smoking inside. Should I not attend due to second hand smoke exposure? Im 12 days out from open Rhinoplasty surgery.
I had open rhinoplasty done a little over a year ago. During my healing process, I've had to have 7+ steroid injections in the tip and along both sides of nose from scar tissue buildup. I'm not a smoker, however the majority of my friends are and don't know of my surgery. I live in CA so they all have marijuana licenses, and/or smoke cigarettes on a regular basis. I try to avoid being around when they smoke, but it still happens a lot. Is it possible for scar tissue to reform at 1.5 yrs post op?
I'm a former smoker; by the date of my surgery, I would be Nicotine-free for two weeks and five days. My friends and family understand my concern with inhaling their second-hand smoke, so they keep a good distance when they light up, yet every now and then I tend to get a good whiff and immediately exhale and move further away from the source of smoke. This has happened quite a few times during the last two weeks. Would this have an impact on my surgery?
