22 Year Old African American Female with Much Need Rhinoplasty - Westfield, NJ

Hi Real Self, Im an African American young lady. Ever since i was 12 i remembered having a big, thick nose but it didn't really bother me since it was proportionate to my face (big head and all). As i got older and lost weight, i noticed my fat nose and was very self conscious about it and would only take pictures from the side. I knew i needed surgery but grew up in a strict household and my mother did not want to hear it. She said it was "correcting God's creation"... I knew i was going to get this rhinoplasty one way or another. I didn't have the money and didn't have credit to finance it so it was kind of hard getting this done.
I went to multiple plastic surgeons and submitted many online inquiries with wish pics and i was always told that the results that i wanted were too dramatic and almost impossible until i went to Dr. Burnett in Westfield, Nj. Everything about him and his staff were very pleasant and profession. His wife, Patricia and nurse Lori were very accommodating and provided excellent service.
After weeks of working overtime shifts and staring at my wish pics, i finally set the surgery date to April 17,2014. I had to take vitamin C (sundown)and Multi-vitamin (centrum) leading up the surgery.
The morning of my surgery i was just ready to get this over with. After i met with the doctor, i was put under anesthesia immediately, surgery took longer than expected ... i went 8;30 am and didn't wake up till 6 pm. when i woke up, the doctor was there making sure i was ok. i was released after going to the bathroom. I was numb by the anesthesia and a bit of A headache and was giving morphine for pain.
The pain wasn't that bad. I had to keep my head elevated. I had extreme dry mouth and sore throat from having to leave my mouth open and occasional headaches. They were bare able though. After a week, I finally had the packing and stitches removed...that was kind of painful. But of course Dr. Burnett was gentle and that helped eased the pain. I had to tape my nose for a few weeks. I also had steroid shots to help with the thickness of the skin and help heal faster.
\Overall I'm very happy with the results of the doctor and would recommend Dr.Burnett for any procedure. he is very good at what he does and very passionate. It isn't just about the money with him. he likes delivering and making his patients happy
