63 Years Young and Getting a Breast Reduction! - Voorhees, NJ

The sores under my right breast got very infected so my dermatologist took a culture. Two weeks later she called me back and told me I had MRSA . Had to go on antiobiotics again for 2 weeks. The oozing and bleeding from the infection has finally stopped, but he large scar that is left, which is very red angry looking still hurts quite a bit I am hoping that within a couple of weeks, the soreness will lessen and everything will heal up nicely. It has been a long recovery due to this infection, but I would do it all over again because my back, neck and shoulders feel wonderful and I can move around so much better. I am definitely very happy having smaller breasts and am having so much fun buying bras. My friends told me I look like I lost 20 pounds. That the best compliment ever.

I am 6 weeks post op and about 2 weeks ago I noticed a sore along the suture line under my right breast and mid line. Apparently, my body is rejecting the inside stitches. My PS said it will eventually heal, but it is quite painful. He also said this can happen when the breasts are really large. In the last 2 weeks, it has spread and more sores appeared and then turned into open sores. I feel so discouraged, because I was doing so well and to now have this setback. I don't worry about the scarring or anything like that but it is so sore and raw and it hurts a lot. I am hoping the sores have stopped growing, but time will tell. Today I had a piece of the inside sticking out from one of the holes. The nurse said to snip it off, which I did, so I am hoping that was part of the problem and, maybe, it will start healing now. It still hasn't made me unhappy about doing the surgery. I would to it again in a heartbeat because I feel so great and my back and neck problems are gone. Just a little update.

Today is 2 weeks and one day post op. Had an appointment with PS's office where the nurse removed my stitches from around my nipples and removed the steri-tape from all the stitches that will dissolve. Didn't hurt one bit. The Doc also said I could go back to the gym in 2 weeks. Very happy about that. He said he removed 1 1/2 pounds from each breast for a total of 3 pounds total. He doesn't have to see me for 6 months so I have an appointment in May, 2016. I have one tiny section at the bottom of the T-zone that is bleeding a tiny bit so he said to just put some antibiotic ointment on it. I have to start putting Vitamin E oil on the scars starting tomorrow and as soon as all the scabbing falls off I start the silicone gel. I asked him if the side boob where I got the lipo would come down some more and he said that is was still really swollen and should come down nicely. I told him how pleased I am with the result and that it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I feel really good after just 2 weeks and, hopefully, will be even better once I get back to my exercise and Zumba classes at the gym.
