Try rolling a rolling pin over your swollen areas. It kind of feels good in a painful kind of way but keeps fluid moving. Swelling very normal. I am 2wks post op tummy lipo and still very swollen (cannot wear pre-op jeans).
Thanks guys...I appreciate the feedback.Yes,went to Dr,he said put a bag of frozen peas on the areas and then start massaging downward,it still is very tender and numb. When does the swelling go down,I can't fit in anything?
I am 11 days since surgery, and I could not put the compression garment back on me because it was sooo tight and made me sore,so I switched to Spanx, but I still have this foam pad I must put inside the garment against my stomach,do you have the same, and are you wearing a compression garment 24 hrs a day?
I just had a lymphatic drainage massage yesterday and it worked wonders. I am 19 days post op and had severe swelling. The therapist who did my massage explained that this type of surgery disrupts the lyphatic drainage system in your body. It is all very superficial (close tot he skin) where lipo occurs. So the body cannot get the fluid out. The massage helps to remind the body the lyphatic rythem and helps get the fluid out. It was wonderful and not very expensive. I highly reccomend. I lost 1.5lb of swelling yesterday! I have already had two compliments on looking "thin" today and these are my first two compliments since surgery!!! Try it!
Thanks for sharing your story.
Doctors seem to be pretty split on whether to massage after lipo according to this thread: Massaging After Liposuction? So there is at least that; if you really, really can't massage, it might not matter.
Have you talked to your doc about it? S/he might be able to put you on stronger pain meds.
