Very, Very Happy with Active FX

Worth It
Spent: $2,300 in Mercer Island, WA

It has been 4 weeks since my Active FX treatment and I'm very happy with the results. The reduction in scarring on my cheeks is very good and that's what most people notice. The lines around the corners of my eyes are diminished and my face feels great. I still have keloidal scarring around my neck but even that is not as noticeable as it was. I had no expectations that the Active FX would dramatically change the keloids so I was OK with that outcome.

What was most remarkable to me about the healing process was how much better it was after I reached Day 4 - post treatment. I did not miss any work - had it done on a Friday afternoon and returned to work on Monday AM. I was still pretty red that week but it wasn't horrible (remember too that I'm a guy).  I've been very diligent about wearing sunscreen every day as I don't want to expose this fresh skin to the harmful rays. I think my skin is a bit more rosey in color than it was before but I actually like that look. It  gives my face a sun -kissed appearance.

Anyway, I'm very happy with the results.

Mcrispy, Congratulations on your results and quick healing. It must be a significant improvement if people are commenting on it. I thought of doing the exact same treatment (TotalFX) but have decided to try the SmartXide another fractional CO2 laser. I am not 100% certain its the right choice but all these fractional CO2 lasers seem to be getting better results on acne scars than the Fraxel laser. I think the person operating the equipment is a key part to getting good results. I tried five sessions of Fraxel in late 2006 and had about a week downtime with each session. I had no improvement what so ever. It seems the factional CO2 treatments result in a similar downtime but are getting better results (or at least that is what I am hoping). Take care and enjoy your new skin. Allison

Allison - I think the DeepFX was a good choice for me. The healing process was amazing beginning with Day 3. Each day it got markedly better. It's now 6 weeks post treatment and the results are great. I notice the crow's feet around my eyes are minimal and also the acne scarring on my cheeks is really improved. Overall my pores have tightened up. I seem to have a natural suntan look now too which is kind of cool. I've been dligent about using sunscreen daily - even in the gray overcast skies over Seattle. Good luck with your decision and treatment.
