Worth It
Spent: $1,800 in San Diego, California

I'm 32 and had Lasik about two years ago. I'm now have 20/20 vision and am very happy. My prescription was -4.0 in both eyes with slight astigmatism. I'd worn glasses and soft contacts since age 16.

It's so great to wake up in the morning and be able to see everything!

I had standard Lasik with microkeratome. Since I have hazel (green/brown) eyes the doctor said either standard or custom would work for me. For light colored eyes, e.g. blue, he recommended custom lasik. I was most scared about the blade used to make the flap, but it was painless (used numbing drops prescribed by the doctor) and issue free.

Don't recall the exact cost, but it was something like $1800 (or less) for both eyes.

My Doctor:

Dr. Lakhani is personable, professional, and has performed many of these procedures. He fellowed at Shiley Eye Center of the University of California in San Diego, one of the best eye centers in the country. Since they own the building and lasers they have lower overhead and offer straight-forward pricing. They are not the cheapest, but I liked that they didn't try to upsell and were upfront about the cost and cons.
