I did VASER last week with one of South India's two VASER recommended (off their website) specialists, and I was very very impressed. The professionalism, the keen attention to detail, the personal care provided by the nurses (who were available morning till late in the evening when I left) was simply unlike something I could have ever had in the US, where I am otherwise based. The price was also effectively 45 - 50% of what I would have paid in the US, and this was for a leading aesthetic surgeon.

I did the surgery under epidural injection - a halfway stage between local anesthesia and general anesthesia. I was awake and generally aware of what was happening, the 2 anesthesiologists were friendly and professional.

After the surgery, I was oozing blood-saline for about 3-4 days, there was some swelling in the pelvic area for the first couple of days, but this has since eased off. The persistent discomfort is on account of the tight pressure garment and a still numb/sore stomach underneath. I do feel myself getting better, and see the changes already...am taking as much housebound rest as is possible for best results over the first week after surgery.

My rating:

Very professional doctor...he took one hour the day before the surgery to explain every aspect of the surgery to me. I also met with anesthesiologist the previous day for 15 minutes. During the surgery, when the doctor noticed I was tense and my BP had shot up a little bit from an otherwise normal 120/80, he stopped the process for 5 minutes, just held my hand to calm me down, and then proceeded after my BP went down!! After the surgery, he called me at 11 p.m. the first night to see how I was doing...when I could not get the call, and instead texted him to call me back if he was still awake, he called me back within 7 seconds at around midnite!! Doctor is much in demand, but very effectively uses his time, and answers all possible questions one can have about the process, healing etc. In India, it is customary for doctors to give out their numbers, and be reached at any time of the night as well in case of need...a personal touch one would never find in the West. The facility was very clean, all equipment used was sterile, the whole experience was very pleasant.
