The good, the bad and the ugly

One month post explant today. My breasts tingle and are tender still. Bruising and incisions healing nicely. I love being natural, look better in clothing and my nerve pain in gone! Very happy to feel healthy again. Breasts look deflated when I lean forward so no low cut tops for me. I am sleeping well and looking forward to resuming exercise. Doctor says massage not necessary if I did not implant again. What are your experiences? Also, weird experience of skin peeling on my boobs and chest as if I had a sunburn. I feel healthier and love having sensation back in my breasts. I can wear any bra I want now but my breasts feel more comfortable in sports bra. If you are on the fence trying to decide to explant, just go for it!

Back home - 10 days post explant (I am so happy)

Well ladies, I am back home and other than being sore and fatigued, I am doing well. My drain and incision sites still hurt and I am taking 800 mg of Ibuprofen for pain and swelling. I am suppose to have a follow up exam by the surgeon in six months.
I am wearing a sports bra 24/7 for the next two weeks then I am free to wear the bra of my choice. I am delighted to be silicone free. My breasts are larger than expected but that could be due to the swelling. My implants were placed through the arm pit above the muscle and over the years scar tissue developed that had to be removed. The scar tissue ran from my arm pit to the bottom of the my breasts and the surgeon said that is most likely what was causing my pain. I can already tell I have more range of motion and I am delighted to feel my natural breasts again. There is an indentation at the top of my breasts where the implants were positioned that looks strange when I bend forward. I hope as they heal it is less noticeable. I am under strict orders not to lift anything or vacuum that could cause my incision to open or a Seroma to develop. I did lift my luggage when traveling and now I am worried. Back to work tomorrow which means early to bed for me. Dr. Gabriel is an amazing surgeon and I am delighted with the results. Much better than expected.

Drains

The drains are located on each side of my breasts and held down by netting. Easy to shower in. No pain thank goodness. The netting and compression wrap require another persons help so drain does not come loose. My breasts are swollen and it will take time to know the outcome. They sag a little but not badly. Now they look like a C cup. I think they will reduce to a B cup later. I am so glad I did not get a lift.

I wrote letters to three doctors since I am traveling out-of-state for the surgery. Dr. Gabriel telephoned me after receiving my letter and spoke to me for nearly an hour. He explained what needed to be done for my health and how to start the process with my family doctor documenting my health problems and obtaining an MRI for insurance purposes. The other PS did not contact me after receiving my letter however, I did meet with each one to make an informed decision. I was very pleased with the consult and I am hopeful that I will have a successful outcome.
