I am 31 years old. I had my surgery a day before my bd. I have three girls. I have had 3 c- sections. I am 5'2 & weigh 161. I wanted this for a long time. I work out at 3 to 4 days a week. But my eating habits need to be a little better. My experience is bitter sweet.

The ps & staff were great. We talked to each other as if we were friends. The day of my surgery: They made me so comfortable to the point where they even numb my arm before putting in the IV. They gave me relaxing meds. before surgery. Woke up with a great tummy. The ride home was hell. My husband nurse me as a real nurse. I had a cath. in. They took it out the next day. I was taken vitamin C, iron pills, antibiotics, stool softeners, & gas X. Just to keep my immune system up & to make my stool soft. The gas x was b/c I am always gassy. Everyday does get better. I am 11 days post op.

My week anniversary my husband wanted to have sex. I was very reluctant to do it but read many times that it was ok if it was done correctly! I started spotting in my vagina on day 10. I am not scared b/c it is bark blood (which means old blood). Called my ps & he reassured me that its normal & ok. No foul smell, no pain (outside of tightening & spasms in my abdomen), & no cramps. I have a problem with looking as if I did before as in size.

The stress marks are gone & no more flabby skin. I know I am very swollen. I just want to know will I slim down? The ps told me that he really tighten my stomach. I asked if I can get a 6 pack afterwards from working out. He told me he was doing that for me. I cant stand up straight for along period of time. Sleeping is crazy. I dread going to sleep b/c it is so uncomfortable. It's getting better though but not like my normal sleeping habits.

I had a full tummy tuck. Let me also add I had lipo on tummy & my flanks.

Hells Bells! YOU LOOK FANTASTIC!! I am so sorry the recovery has been slow going for you. I am not any help in that area cause I haven't been there, but from what I have read patience is a virtue when it come to recovery.
I also wanted to say thanks for your review, it helps people like me who are scared out of my wits and having doubts about the whole thing get some solace from reading about your experience.
I wish you well and keep us posted on your recovery!

I will, thank you. I found out my period came back on b/c my body has had trauma to it and my hormones are trying to get back in tact. I hate this but love the flab is gone!

Thanks for posting your story and photos on RealSelf! It's really hard to know if a tummy tuck is worthwhile so soon post-op. (It sounds like you're only a couple weeks out). There's the swelling and back pain and other issues that take a while to resolve. It's also normal to go through an emotional down time soon after surgery.

I hope in the end you'll love your new body and be glad you did this. Please keep us posted!

Thank for the wonderful words of encouragment. I will keep u all posted. Can I ask u how much swelling u had & what you ate during recuperation?

WOW!! You look so good! We have the same body type and your before pics kind of look like me! I have heard that you can be swollen for a few months, and your results will look amazing after that. I am not looking forward to sleeping at night either. I am sure in a few weeks, you wont even remember not sleeping well. Good luck with everything!

I have the exact story you have! I felt so bad about spending half of what you are going to spend. You will need a lot of other things after surgery. You will need at least three extra girdles,a lot of neosporian (after your scar heels), soup, juice, and more. I wish you the best & appreciate your post. I had a full tummy tuck & lipo on tummy & flanks! You are getting a lot more. Good luck with it all. I can seemy form shaping out. I am getting happier & happier. May I ask how much you weigh?

Hi Necole:
I am 8 weeks Post Op and I wondered the same things at first. I still have some swelling but look so much better than I did those first few weeks! I have lost almost 10 pounds since my surgery (3 lbs during surgery itself) I am much happier than I was at first. I have even bought 3 bikinis recently : )
I am also 5'2".
You might want to go under my treatment review and read all the questions that I wrote to the plastic surgeons online.
Take care,

It's funny how our stories are similar. Thx for being so detail. Wow, you look great. Can't wait to be 8 wk. po.

Hi Necole, my name is Roxanne, I am 9 days post op today and I feel the same as you. I'm so glad I did it because in the end I'm thinking it will be great. But right now it is getting kind of depressing feeling like I wont ever be back to normal. Sometimes I feel like woo hoo great, and others I want to cry because I'm not right back to myself again. My doctor said day 10 tomorrow I will be 80% better. Not quite sure if that's the total truth lol. I was also told it's ok to pick up our 1 year old, which i have done a couple of times very carefully, and he said as long as I don't feel pain and use my arms and legs I should be ok. I almost feel guilty and bad now because I miss holding and playing with him. So I am going through exactly the same down feelings as you are right now double guessing ourselves for doing this. You really do look great though. ;) I would love to hear back from you, it would be so nice to have someone to talk to who knows what we're going through. =)

I will like that very much. Did you have any spotting? Yeah, on day 10 I was feeling a little normal. Of course, I was sore and had spasms. Car rides are crazy! I started driving on my 10th day. I haven't taken any meds at all. My incision is itching like crazy. Do u have any photos?
semperfimymarine 10 Feb 2011
I do have photos, I posted them on my page, should be there. ;) I still need to post before, but they are on my hubbies phone. I've been taking ibuprofen as needed, which I am now thinking I wasn't supposed to yet, from what others said, but seems to have helped?! lol. My incision isn't really bothering me, only when my binder rubs on it at times. Car rides don't really bother me, however I have yet to drive! My hubby goes back to work tomorrow, so this weekend I'm on my own, and probably won't go very far because of the baby. I don't have spasms, is that normal? Everyone else has had them, maybe a couple here and there, but they don't hurt, just quick little twitches. If you can, go to my page to see my photos. I will post more soon. Those are both from day 3. How is your swelling? How are you doing with energy levels, and daily activities? I'm most upset with my energy level I think that's what's really getting me down. Oh yeah and no spotting because I had my montly at the time of surgery! lol.. That was alot of fun especially the first few days after that were the worst.. I got through it though. =)
Necole Willialims 10 Feb 2011
I'm not sure if its normal. A lot of swelling, however; I can see a drastic change. My energy level is really bad considering I exercise on a norm. My stance is getting better. I've been doing some shopping for the last two days just to gain energy. I give out of breath just going all the way to the back of Old Navy. I walked my neighborhood yesterday & when I returned home I was depressed b/c I was sweating & tired! I'm taking easy & step by step. I'm not cooking yet just fixing things like frozen lasagna, salads, & chicken nuggets for the girls. Taking baths are wonderful! My period went off the day of surgery and came back on 10 days later...yikes!

Hi,
I'm 5 weeks post op and can relate to everything I've read so far. The breakthrough for me came at the 4 week point. I am now sleeping a little better and can sleep on my side! Everything I read about other peoples experiences mirror my own but day by day things do get better and easier. The only observation I've made is that because I feel so much better it's easy to forget that only 5 weeks ago I had major surgery and I think I can do more than I actually can, so heed this warning and do take things easy.
Mayela72 15 Feb 2011
Love your results! You look awesome. Just think about how you would look when the swelling is completely gone.

Just wondering if you had a pain pump afterwords for a few days? My dr. tells me this really helps. Im still trying to decide if Im gonna do this???
