“Tummy Tuck with UAL of Trunk (Back & Front)”
Spent: $10,500 in Mattoon, IL
I had my surgery on Jan 23, 2009. So far my recovery has been pretty good! I'd have to say that the first three days were the worst and that most of my pain was from the swelling in my back due to the lipo. My actual tummy tuck incision hasn't been uncomfortable at all, except when I had to remove the suture tape! OUCH!
I did have a pain pump installed during surgery and it was removed 4 days post op. After that the pain medicine that I took was usually in the evening so that I could sleep without discomfort. Now being at 3 weeks post op, I simply take ibuprofen for pain as needed.
I still have seeping from the new belly button and plan on calling the doctor tomorrow to see if this is normal. The only swelling that I have left is on my back above the buttocks and through the hip area.
I finally got to wear my jeans again last week and noticed a huge difference in the front but they are somewhat uncomfortable in the back. Total weight loss to date is 12 lbs. and if I remember correctly they removed 3 lbs of excess skin and 3 lbs of fat.
I would recommend the tummy tuck at this point, I love my new flat tummy. As for lipo, it's painful and hopefully I will be happy with the results once the swelling goes down!
Updated on Feb 25, 2009:
Now 4 weeks post op and Dr. said that I have had an excellent recovery! My scar looks 3 months old rather than only a month! I still have some discomfort in the mornings but for the most part my life is back to normal. Swelling is still an issue where lipo was performed but hopefully all of that will be a memory over the next 4 weeks! I highly recommend this surgery!
