“Not as bad as i expected.”
Tummy tuck: Worth it
Pain: Uncomfortable
I received a tummy tuck on July 30, 2008 and I have to honestly say that the experience was not as bad as I thought it would be. My surgery was scheduled for 0900 and I was sedated by 0915hrs. I remember talking to the nurse while she placed compression socks on my feet and the next thing I remember was waking up in the recovery room at 1600hrs. The Dr. told my family that over 8lbs of fat was removed or suction from my tummy.
If you have a good recovery system in place (friends, family, or nurse) the first couple of days with no major completions then I would suggest anyone thinking about a tummy tuck to at least go and get the consulation. I removed my binder today to shower and I saw a body part that I haven't seen in over 10 years. I would do it over in a heartbeat.
Updated on Aug 7, 2008:
8 days later and I'm feeling emotions I wasnt expecting. First, I was never told just how painful the recovery process would be. When I say painful Im referring to emotionally painful. I prepared myself for the physical pain that I would endure but never would I have thought I would doubt my decision to have a tummy tuck. Its emotionally draining trying to 'find' a position to sleep in. Emotionally draining having to ask for assistance to use the restroom, take a shower, eat, etc.
I cant stress enough the importance of asking question during your consultation. I feel the dr.'s downplay the recovering process. (maybe im just an emotional roller coaster now but i wish i had known this before time, probally wouldnt have made a difference but would have like knowing beforehand.)

Can you email me the name of your surgeon? I'm looking for one in Atlanta, Raleigh-Durham, Tampa, Orlando, or Jacksonville.
Thanks,
Christine

How do you feel one month later? I'm in Chicago and have consulted a doc about a tt.

How is it going now? I went for a consultation in Roswell, Ga. In the end the price is close to $10,000. I am concerned about the look afterwards. The doctor's before & after look great. More than I wanted to pay.

Iam looking to do a TT after having 2 kids. Iam researching all of the PS out there. I had a few consultations and can not make up my mind. I wanted to know what what made you choose your PS.

I am still considering a TT, but the cost is quite high. I went for a consult with a well-regarded ps. He came recommended to me by another doc and by surgical nurses.
