I'm on my 3rd tray and so far so good. . I must admit i am starting to worry that it’s not actually working the whole tray changing is literally pain free :-). I have a gap between my top front teeth and my overbite needs some work, in total I’m set for 17 trays, 9 lower and 17 upper, which should take me up to December.

I think the only con is the attachments, my dentist didn't even mention them in my consultations and then on the day of my first Invisalign tray he said he needed to do some filing and add the attachments. I tell you my face did drop, I shouted out “What filing!!" luckily it wasn’t as bad as I thought thank goodness! I left the dentist about 40 minutes later with 3 attachments on my upper teeth and 2 on my lower. To this day no one has even noticed them :-).

So to sum up I am finding the whole experience quite pleasant so far... fingers crossed it continues…..

xx

I am now on set 6 and things are moving along nicely but slowly, i went to see my dentist the other day to get my next few sets, he seems to think it's all looking good so i am happy, i have 4 more to go my lower teeth and so my dentist has informed me that its now time to choose the after treatment, the choices:  a metal wire type thing which is bonded to the back of my teeth or a night retainer which i am aware is forever.  Hard choice so any suggestions would be very helpful.

Tray 6 is the tightest set i have had yet, a little pain but it's not unpleasent, overall i am really happy with how this is going, i haven't found wearing the brace a hassle quite the opposite to be honest, my mouth kind of misses them when i take them out to eat.

I am on day 4 of my invisalign. I also was not informed of the buttons. The buttons are so irritating that I have to keep the invisalign in so they don't hurt my mouth. Plus I have one button on my front tooth. I thought I wouldn't have to wear the invisalign all of the time, but you do. Most people don't notice and I might talk slightly different, but it isn't too bad. It is still better than the traditional braces for me.

i must admit the first few days of starting the treatment by teeth did feel like they were goning to fall out, the attachments did make it hard to get the trays off aswell. My teeth have really settle down now, although i do get this weird feeling where i feel a bit confined. The best advice i have got, when moving on to the next set of trays after the 2 weeks... Have your dinner as normal, then brush, floss etc, take a nurofen or paracetamol and go to bed. Helps you teeth/mouth adjust more to the trays because there in for a longer amount of time.

I had regular metal braces but just wanted to comment on your question about after treatment and retainers. I had a permanent metal wire put on my bottom teeth and a night retainer for my top. Given, I was 14 at the time, but I had trouble wearing my night retainer regularly and it often fell out at night. Because I wasn't wearing it properly my teeth started to shift back and then I couldn't fit the retainer in my mouth. Now my top teeth are basically back to where they were before I had braces (hence me looking into invisalign). The only negative thing about the permanent retainer is that it does collect plaque and food easily so you have to be good about flossing. I would still definitely recommend the permanent. No one knows I have it (my boyfriend didn't even know till I mentioned it 2 years into the relationship)and it has kept my teeth perfectly in place. You don't have to worry about bringing it with you when you travel or ever losing it.
