I liked Dr. Capone immediately. I had done my research, and our first meeting merely boosted and fortified the good opinion I already had. Not so, my husband, who had read nothing, and if he ever thought about "Plastic Surgery" at all (not), would have figured it was some indulgeant thing "other people" do.

I went over the procedures I was interested in - face lift, brow lift, rhinoplasty - while John watched from the sidelines with a jaundiced eye (I used to wonder what that meant, but now I know). When we discussed my general health I explained that I was taking prednisone for a rheumatic condition (from 5 to 10 msg/day, depending on how I was feeling). Mentally, I already had my surgery date booked, and was lined up for exciting results in the very near future.

Then Dr. Capone outlined HIS proposal, and my bubble burst. He said because prednisone affected the texture of the skin, it also impacted the results you could expect from surgery, and, for that reason, I would have to get down to 5mg prednisone a day, and stay at that level for 3 months, before he could do anything. At that point we could do a brow lift. The face lift I wanted would only be possible if I could get off (and stay off) the prednisone completely. But he said there were less invasive things we could do to address my complaints without risking the problems a face lift presented. THAT is what won over my husband: that Dr. Capone refused to do what I wanted (how perverse can you get?). Dr. Capone said I could undoubtedly find a sugeon somewhere who would do precisely what I wanted done, but he couldn't, because it was contraindicated by the prednisone. John was impressed. Both with Dr Capone's explanation of why the prednisone was an issue, and with his counter proposal, which would achieve something less than perfection, as I had imagined it, but would do all that was safely do-able.

Nine months later, I can attest to Dr Capone's success. I will need to rely a little more on injectibles than I had imagined, but what I had done didn't risk my health, jeopardize the results I was after, or cross ethical lines. I am quite happy. And so is my husband.

*The above cost figures include Brow Life, Rhinoplasty and Liposuction (along the jaw line).

Randolph Capone is an easy person to talk to, and his staff is warm and friendly and always available to answer questions. They fully deserve the ratings I have given below. I have no objection to my before and after photos being included above, but don't know that I have any myself.
