How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

Looking for a different surgeon

As soon as I can get an appointment with my family doctor, I'll be asking for a referral to a different surgeon. I am really disappointed with Dr. Elahi's office -- I found out a week ago that they have moved offices, although I don't know how recently that was. Either way, it's been two weeks since I was told they would call me back in half an hour! Trying to remain patient, but the lack of communication has encouraged me to seek out another surgeon. I can't deal with this run-around for another several months. :(

So far I have gone for one consultation with Dr. M Elahi in Toronto. I'm frustrated, and wondering how long it has taken others to get OHIP coverage, and am looking for other reviews of Dr. Elahi.

Four months ago I went for my first consultation. I was told they would submit my application to OHIP for coverage, and that I should call back in 6 to 8 weeks. Called back at 6 weeks, was told right away it was too soon to check and no one looked at my file. Called back at two months, there was no response yet from OHIP. Called back at 3 months and was told they would resubmit my file to OHIP (although it really sounded to me like it hadn't gone in at all). Called back two weeks ago, left a voicemail, have had no response. Called last week, they took my name down and said they would check and call back in half an hour. No response yet. Called today, and their office voicemail is full.

I'm thinking of asking my family doctor for a different referral and starting the process again but I'm frustrated that I have wasted four months. How long have others waited for OHIP approval? I don't know if the delay is with OHIP or my surgeon's office. :(
