Just received mine yesterday. I have about 10 brackets which are very irritating while wearing the retainers, but even more so while eating. Has anyone else have/had similar experiences ... does it get better w/ time? Yes, the teeth a very uncomfortable especially the lower fronts. My treatment time is approximately 18 months assuming new trays every 2 weeks. When will this pain diminish towards tolerable levels? I can't seem to leave them alone .. is this normal? Currently, it appears it will be a long year and a half.

I do not need to lose weight, however, this program could substitute as a good diet program as well.

Ive got 12 'buttons' (im guessing thats what you were talking about by calling them brackets?) I've got 12...6 on the bottom and 6 on the top. At the beginning they were the worst things about invisaligns...because i have felt no pain atall (im onto my 4th set). When i ate the buttons made it feel like i had big chunks of food stuck between my teeth...but within a week or two they smooth down and you get really used to them. Goodluckkk :)

Thanks, I have 12 too ... 3 on top and 9 on the lowers. I read somewhere they were needed for rotation and vertical (up/down) movements only, but my dentist says they're for added strength and added some brackets over what invisalign originally recommended. Every (lower)front tooth of mine has them on and the movement is only forward/backward ... it appears the facts are construed somewhere or by someone. Thoughts? I took a nail filer and smoothed them down a bit. I think your correct ... it takes some-time to get use too. Like many here, I'm an ex-teenage brace wearer, although, that was over 30 years ago!

I am on my first set and the buttons were completely a shock to me, nobody ever told me about getting those until they came at my face with the things. I have pain but mostly from clenching my jaw, it feels like it can't relax closed. These things are driving me absolutely crazy.
