I had sun damage and acne scaring. My dermatologist referred me to a place that had it. Make sure it's a reputable place. I spent $300 a treatment. They recommended 3 treatments to start off, then wait a month or so and then go from there. They told me to have realistic expectations, mine were to have my skin looking like it did before the scaring, I don't know if that's realistic or not.
I didn't use any numbing cream, I am allergic and have a high pain tolerance. It's actually not that bad and after words they had this cooling roller that helped clam down my skin. You'll probably be really red from it, for me I used ice packs the first day or two and it starts getting back to the color it was, also use the creams they give you. They also used a Cooling Waves machine, which just had a bunch of lights go and off, they say it helps. I'm Latino and have a risk of hyperpigmentation, with the Fraxel laser, I'm at no risk. I just finished my 4th treatment and I can tell there is a difference from when I started.
The road to recovery is a long one and a lesson in patience. Don't give up. I'm still a teenager and I guess I just have hope about it. In the world we live in almost anything is accomplished if you have the will, patience and money. Keep on keepin On!
