I had smartlipo performed 9 months ago (inner, outer thighs and lower abdomen) and I'm not very happy with the result. I’m 44, 5’4, 119 lbs. I think the doctor removed very little amount of fat. Would a revision be an option or do I need different procedure to get a flat stomach?

Some parts of my body bothered me a lot. I couldn’t “shape” them with any exercises or diet. It was frustrating wearing size 4-6 and still not being satisfied with my appearance. It was not the pounds but the “bags” on my stomach and thighs which made me think about lipo.

My fear of the pain was holding me back. One day at work we were joking about lipo and I thought I should maybe talk about lipo with someone who is familiar with it. So I scheduled a consultation. After few minutes talking to the consultant I was convinced. She explained to me every detail of the procedure she had confident answer to each of my concerns. No pressure, no pushing, just exceptional service.

The nurse who took care of me after the procedure had a lot of work with me. I was feeling very sick and nauseous. I was vomiting more the during pregnancy. She tried everything possible to help me to overcome my discomfort. I felt so taken care of under her supervision. I was thinking about her later when I took my first shower. I felt exactly the way she said I would but by following her instruction I was able to bring the dizziness and weakness under control.

The procedure was not painless but I haven’t’ experience any pain after the Smartlipo. I never once had to take a pain med. This was a pleasant surprise for me. The next day I was already functioning normally. I did not have any issues with the garment. Actually moving, walking, standing was much more comfortable then without the garment.

As he pictures show there is almost no difference on my abs which is frustrating because the stomach bothered me the most. I’m afraid I need second treatment. Does anybody have similar experience?

My rating:

Meeting the doctor and his staff was a pleasure. He and the nurse described to me the whole procedure, the effect of the drugs I got, what to expect after the procedure. They hadn’t left out anything. So I was prepared for the bruising, drainage, swelling, lumps, and dizziness.

What did the Dr. say about your results? How long should I take off of work, if I have this done? Assuming I dont want anyone to know what I had done.

Hi BQ - my results have been similar to yours - I am 5'4", 125 pounds, 52 years old. I had my surgery for upper/lower abs and waist in May, 2011 and the inner/outer thighs and hips in June, 2011. My measurements pre- and post-surgery are exactly the same (possibly even a half inch or so larger). My weight is the same. Results: I lost the pouch on my lower abs but gained fat rolls when I sit down. My thighs lost the saddlebags but haven't changed in measurement (but they do fit better in my jeans). Still wearing the same pants size and am definitely more lumpy/bumpy than I was before. I was told that's due to scar tissue but I have read posts here that say they religiously had professional massages to break up the scar tissue after surgery and that they still have the lumps. I have also read some horror stories about touch ups so I am afraid to mess with it any more, surgery-wise! Plus, it will cost me extra $$ and I hate to invest any more... The Drs office wants me to try Velashape to help smooth the lumps (for an additional $1000!!). I did a trial Velashape session (free) which seemed to help the upper abs a teensy bit, but the jury's still out. I bought a Groupon for $399 for Smoothshapes, which is supposed to help post-lipo bumps, and has gotten way better reviews on this website than Velashape has. I start Smoothshapes this afternoon, so we'll see.

My Dr. said there is nothing he can do. It is loose skin. He suggested building abs muscles which could possible stretch the skin a little bit.

PS -- You look great. Don't know how old you are, but enjoy how you look NOW...and don't sweat the small stuff.

I can see that your thighs are smaller and your waist seems smaller. The abdomen from the front doesn't look much different, but it does look smaller from the side. I am having upper, lower, and waist done in a week. So nervous. I am older (58) and can pinch a good 3 inches of fat above my C-section scar. I know there will be loose skin. But will wear the garments and will continue working out when able. I began reducing calorie intake a couple of months ago, plus eliminating gluten and dairy from my diet. Have lost wait from that already. Hopefully, will be able to reduce portion sizes even more...because if I don't, and I eat more calories than I burn, the fat will glom on somewhere else! Wish me luck!
