This process was very painful and did not whiten my teeth very much at all (perhaps a small amount, but not enough to justify the pain and expense.) My dentist did a good job at covering up my gums, so I didn't have gum tooth pain, but your mouth gets wedged open for several hours to apply the solution and the laser. Immediately when my mouth was wedged open, I could tell the position of my open mouth was very bad for my TMJ (condition that causes pain and soreness in my jaws, limits what I can chew, how far I can open my mouth, and causes popping in my jaw joint.) The pain in my jaw got worse and worse the longer the process went on. I was almost crying by the end. I toughed it out, but I really feel the process should have been stopped and my money refunded since my dentist knows I have TMJ and has even treated me for it. For days, my jaws were very painful and I couldn't chew. I was seriously worried that I had permanently ruined my jaws. Even if the process had whitened my teeth, which it didn't, it would not have been worth it if my jaws were permanently ruined. Fortunately, my jaws did return to "normal" after several days (still same TMJ condition as before). This really did not work for me, and if you have TMJ, you should avoid it because you may not recover as I was fortunate enough to do. Either dentists are not aware of this or they do not care, but patients should be asked if they have TMJ before undergoing this treatment.
