“Tca home products”

Chemical peel: NOT worth it

Cost: $150
Pain: Severe
Chemical peel satisfaction: Poor1 Star Rating: Poor
I do not recommend my Chemical peel provider: Name not provided
Why: home product resulted in 3rd degree burns

home chemical peel left 3rd degree burns which led to a staph infection and several hospitalizations and emergency room visits. Currently still in the hospital.

I read your answer to a question about using TCA Peel at home. I am curious, have you come across any patients who have suffered serious chemical burns from using such a home product? A company out of New Zealand is selling 100% TCA for tattoo removal. Their warning says "If you have sensitive skin," dilute the product to 50%. I know someone who suffered really bad burns to her wrist after using the product and I am curious if you know if this is happening to other people.

Why, in God's name, would anyone EVER want to try and do a medical procedure (which is what a peel is) at home? Would you try and do your own liposuction? I have come across many people who have badly burned themselves, playing around with TCA and other chemicals at home. This is a procedure that has the potential for severe complications, and should never, ever be attempted by anyone but a trained professional.

Read some of the other posts on here. Somebody gave themselves third degree burns playing around with a TCA peel at home and was in the hospital. If things can go wrong with a trained professional (and I think deeper peels should only be applied by a physician) imagine what can happen if you get (what you hope is) TCA online and read a paragraph of instructions. Peels can trigger herpes outbreaks that can devastate your facial skin. Doctors prescribe drugs to prevent this, but you won't get it at home. Do you know if you hyperpigment? What keloids or hypertrophic scarring is? Maybe you can save a few bucks doing it at home, but you'll end up spending tens of thousands surgery, and will never look normal again, if you botch it.
