I'm a runner and I workout hard but I've always had saddlebags, banana roll, fat on the inner thighs and fat around knees. Finally, fed up, I decided to get smart lipo done on August 5, 2011 .

First, I am happy with the saddle bags and banana rolls being mostly gone; however, I did not get great results with inner thighs and knees. But, I'm not sure the benefits are worth the side effects I've suffered since the procedure. I continue to have spotty numbness around the knees and at times when I run, my knees will hurt and I find I sometimes have to wear a compression garment still when I run. This is even tolerable but the pain I have in my right hip abductor when lying down on my sides is horrendous. At night, if I'm sleeping on my side, I wake up in extreme pain. To this date, I can not lay on my side for very long without pain. If I try to stretch the abductor, I get the same excrutiating pain. To put this in perspective, I have an extremely high pain threshold, did not even need my pain meds after the procedure and was on my feet shopping a couple of hours after the procedure--I had very little "downtime"; however, the pain I'm experiencing is worse than what I felt during the procedure and during recovery but thankfully, I only have it when laying on my side.

So, was smartlipo worth it? I'm not sure, most of the time I think not but then my vanity kicks in and I think maybe it was.
