8 Weeks Post Op

I'm so excited to post this review. It's been 8 weeks since my initial surgery and 5 weeks since I encountered the complication with my left breast where I developed an infection. Although I don't have pictures from that time I can assure you the site of my left breast would have frighten you. I was hospitalized as mentioned in my last post for debridement of the left breast to aide in the process of healing. I remained hospitalized for a week and went through 3 debridements. I finally went home on a wound vac which was keep on for therapy for 20 days. It was a nuisance but a tremendous help to my healing. I went back for another debridement but it was a same day surgery and i got to go home. I am now doing wet/dry dressings twice daily. The improvement is so astonishing and I'm just grateful for the fervent prayers of nurses, family and friends. During the past few weeks I thought my breast would never have the shape and appearance that I expected from the breast reduction lift. But today I can leap for joy while giving God all the PRAISE! And my PS Dr. Horndesky along with his assistant have been just super at guiding me through this ordeal. He has shown the greatest concern with my situation and his care is just superior!! I've had appointments with him every week and not once has he not been timely and thorough with me. If I have any need in the future for a PS......it will be Dr. Horndesky without a doubt!!! I would recommend him to anyone with a need for plastic surgery. My latest appointment was yesterday and I'm just thrilled at the progress and I'm estactic at the shaping up of my breast. They are settling and becoming more round instead of the box shape. My point today is to ENCOURAGE those of you who may have developed or will develop a complication from your reduction. I developed the infection in my left breast and i continue to deal with an open wound underneath my breast that is healing more and more each day by the GRACE of God. I know what it is to be somewhat distraught and depressed when it looks like things just aren't going right. But I'm a living testimony today that with God, time and patience you will overcome. I can't wait to see what my breast will look like next month. Despite the setback, I would do it all over again to be rid of the large saggy breast that tormented me for years before the surgery. I pray this post will help someone. Thank you for reading my story.

Three weeks post reduction

I'm srill thankful every day to God for my reduction breast lift. Since my last review I developed a complication about 3 weeks post surgery. Went for a visit to my PS about 2 1/2 weeks after surgery. I mentioned the left breast appearing to be more swollen than the right and that there was a tiny discharge with a slight odor from the left nipple area. He looked at both breast and said it's most likely the steristrips. So he recommended I go home and take a hot shower and remove all strips. I followed his advice but noticed while taking the strips off the left breast that some of the aerola had come off with the strips. All other strips were removed without complications. I put neosporin on the left aerola and covered it with a gauze for the next several days. It was about the 3rd day after removing the strips that my left breast became red, swollen and very warm to touch and I had a fever for 2 days of 102.6.. I called my PS and they restarted my antibiotics and scheduled an appointment to see him the next morning. When I went in for the visit, He explained that I had an infection at my left breast incision site. He sent me on to the hospital and scheduled surgery for that day- debridement of left breast. I had the sugery 11/26 and spent about a week in the hospital to receive IV antibiotics. While there, they discovered I was anemic as well as dehydrated. So along with the IV fluids I had to receive a unit of blood. Thank God once again for bringing me through that period. I was released from the hospital on Wednesday 12/3 to go home with wound vac therapy and the assistance of a Home Health nurse. I'm set to visit the PS on Monday and I'm believing that my wound will heal fast without further complications. I'm hoping his response will be to remove the wound vac at least by end of the week. I didn't take the time off from work at first to heal but this time around I will rest as required so that healing can resume. Despite this complication, I'm still excited to look in the mirror every day and not see sagging breast.

I just wanted to post this update so everyone would be aware of the possible complications. And to say God is faithful to bring us through every situation great or small. There is nothing to hard for my God!
Prayer and Patience is definitely the key for healing. I pray that God would bless each of you reading this review and I wish all well this Holiday season.

Also, I want to mention that my PS - Dr. Horndeski has been with me every step of the way. I'm thankful for his care and concern, along with his assistant and office staff. And to the staff at the hospital.....every nurse was an angel sent and I truly am blessed! !

This year I decided I wanted a change for me. It...

This year I decided I wanted a change for me. It was long overdue and the heaviness had become a nuisance causing neck, shoulder and back pain. The grooves in my shoulders was even a greater indication that I needed to seek medical help. Just a month ago my husband and I discussed the possibility of surgery to reduce and lift my breast. I was so tired of looking in the mirror at sagging breast resting at my abdomen and causing my self esteem to rocket to the bottom day after day. So much that I hated shopping for bras and clothing.
I decided about 4 weeks ago to search for a physician to see about a cosultation. Instantly while searching the web I came across Realself which directted my attention to Dr Horndeski and his method. Truly, my hesitation for the surgery in the past was the fear of the scars that you're left with after breast reduction. I was so intrigued at his method that I immediately contacted his office through the website for consultation. I received a reply almost instantly to call the office for the appointment to come in for a one on one consult with Dr. Horndeski. I live in the Houston area so the appointment was set for the next week and it went very well. He gave me the history of his method and showed me pictures of the procedure as well as same type surgeries on much larger breast with good results. He then examined mine and agreed a breast lift w/reduction was what I needed. He gave me precise details of where the lift would lift my breast to and of how the slight reduction would help to reconstruct my breast. The procedure cost would be $12,000.00 which included his fee, surgery facility fee and post open visits to his office. I asked about insurance but he said cash because of the hassle of insurance and the criteria for payment.
I was so excited that I went home and discussed the information I received with my spouse as well as the fee ad method of payment. And just to make it short I called the office and set my surgery for the next week. It was done 11/6/14. I couldn't be more grateful for tge experience. In just two weeks of deciding to have it done I met a wonderful physician with great staff and moved on to a great surgical facility with the most welcoming team. It was a blessing to be in the hands of God and these great people. The surgery went well and my two weeks of recovery have been good. My only problem thus for was the constipation from all the meds. My advice......take the colace as ordered!!!
The drain bottles were a bit bothersome but were removed about 4 days post recovery. Today my steristrips were removed and that too was a blessing. I'm recovering well and at this point my left breast seems to be just slightly larger than tge right but this is due to swelling. I'm told and have read other reviews that the swelling takes a couple months. In other words, patience is the key to a great recovery.
I will relay more of my recovery in the weeks and months to come. In the meantime time if you're considering a reduction I wish you well. I'm very pleased with Dr. Horndeski and his methodand can hardly wait to see my end results. I give all the glory to God for giving me the courage to make a change for the betterment of my health and my self esteem.
