Not Worth It
Spent: $850 in Florida

I have lived in Florida my entire life and have been a sun addict for MANY years. I have a lot of freckles and spots from the sun, all over my face and body. (not to mention premature wrinkles)

I had the Pearl treatment done 2 weeks ago and I have to admit, my skin does look smoother. But, to me it looks like it does after a really good chem. peel. The brown sun spots etc, on my face, did not dissapear with the treatment as I expected they would.

The doctor did NOT tell me to wash my pillow cases, towels & washclothes with FRAGRANCE-FREE detergent prior to having this done. I ended up with a mean case of contact dermatitis after my treatment, which made me look like a horrible burn victim.

The pain was unreal and being out in public was absolutely humiliating! (the procedure was virtually painless because of the numbing cream) It finally cleared up...but what a nightmare!

I must also mention that the stench of the skin during the peeling process is horid! And, having the greasy aquaphor on my face for a week was not fun either. I needed at least a full week at home to recover fully.

My face looks, nice, but not $850 worth of nice. My doctor said he will go over it again and "spot treat" the spots that did not go away. He knows that I will not be paying for it.

So, the most important thing to know, if you are planning on doing the Pearl laser treatment, is to MAKE SURE you wash all your linens and towels in fragrance free detergent before you have it done. Your face is raw afterwards and open to any chemicals it comes in contact with. Your doctor may not mention this to you. Also, taking some benadryl afterwards is always a smart idea.

My Doctor: Name not provided

He failed to inform me of very pertinent after care information. He's still a bit wet behind the ears as far as Pearl laser goes.

I don't understand what the difference between this treatment and a chemical peel. A chemical peel will do all the same things, help with fine wrinkles, age spots, and acne scars. It also makes the skin texture smooth, etc. And you don't have to pack your face with aquaphor or vaseline for three days. You don't have to do anything but moisturize AFTER you peel. I think I am going to stick to getting a chemicl peel every 4-6 weeks then doing this. It doesn't hurt, maybe stings a little but when you leave the doctor's office you have no pain at all. You look like you have a mild sun burn the first day, day two your face looks a little dry and tight, and by days 3 and 4 you are peeling. By day 5-6 your face looks wonderful. I have been getting peels for the last 6 years and find them to be just as good as this Pearl laser. And it is a LOT cheaper!

I'm very much considering pearl laser treatment. I'll be vacationing in Florida and thought that I would give it a try. Googled a few Doctors and might try Aqua clinic. Any suggestions??
