wow, a month has passed

I still dont have pictures but.. Friday 7/10 I woke up to cloudy drainage from the remaining drain. Needless to say, It came out later that day and I was started on antibiotics. It was still draining too much to be pulled but the risk of infection was greater than the risk for seroma. I went on vacation the next day and kept in touch with the office through the week.
It was amazing to walk onto a beach and be comfortable in a bathing suit, let alone a bikini! Yes, I wore a bikini one day and felt pretty darn good about it. I didn't wear it every day because the surgeon didn't want my belly button exposed to the sun but I was happy with how I looked. Since I wasn't wearing the binder while on the beach and I had been wearing it almost non stop since surgery, I did end up with some swelling towards the end of the day. I wasn't too concerned because I expected it but with the increased risk for seroma I was watching it really close. Monday into Tuesday my incision line was pretty tight and I was worried it was fluid and not just swelling. Since I was only about 1.5 hours from home I called and made an appointment to see the surgeon on Wednesday, if nothing else to make me feel better. I went and it was just swelling. As long as there is no seroma on Monday when I go back, I can get rid of the binder. I think I'll feel naked!
The incision looks awesome and is well hidden in any bathing suit I would wear and my husband thinks my new heart shaped belly button is cute. I'll get some pics up soon

1 down, 1 to go

almost 3 weeks post op and finally had one drain removed today. I'm not sure how it was still in because I had accidently ripped the sutures out last week. The right one will not stop draining. I'm praying it drops off so it can come out by Friday. I have to work this weekend and really don't have the money to not work another weekend and my uniform is going to be extremely uncomfortable with a drain in place. On top of that, my family leaves for our beach vacation Saturday, I'm supposed to go down on Sunday but as long as there is a drain in place I'm going to have to stay until I see the doctor (who is out of town until Saturday) on monday.

Other than that.. I have little to no pain, occasional muscle spasms, not a whole lot of swelling and the incision looks pretty good.

so tired of drains

apparently, post gastric bypass patients end up with drains longer. I'm at 15 days and I am done with them! I have caught the left one at least twice which causes nauseating pain and it is still draining >50 cc a day. The right one has been draining about 100cc/day until last night when I think it got clogged. We were out with friends and when I got home I felt like I had pee'd my pants. I was soaked. The drain was leaking around the site. Eww.. anyway, I stripped the drain and it stopped leaking but today the out put has significantly dropped off. I have a deadline of next friday to get them out because I have to work the weekend. Fingers crossed they are ready!
