Worth It
Spent: $1,150 in Doylestown, PA

I was expecting the worst. The doctor put some numbing cream all over my face and the procedure was virtually pain free, a little bit of hard thumping on my forehead, but I was forewarned.

They told me to go home and just take it easy and to wash my face at least two times before I go to bed and to wash my face every few hours for the four day down time. I took two Tylenol and ran some errands and went home about 4 hours later and my face felt like I had a mild sunburn and looked like it as well.

The following morning, my eyes were swollen and my face felt hot and red, so I took two Tylenol. By late afternoon the swelling had subsided and so did the redness. Day three I had no swelling and much less red. I was shocked by how great my eyelids looked...uppers were where they belonged and my bags were gone. My lips were looking so much better.

Day four, I noticed a bunch of red itchy pimples on my forehead and a couple on my face.

Day five pimples were still there and maybe have a few more, but the initial ones are beginning to calm down.

Day six...pimples are still there but not itchy anymore and they look like they are fading. My skin look is tight and smooth. I noticed today that even my nose looks shorter...I forgot to mention that I'm 61 years old...so everything on my face was sagging. But not any more. I go back to the Doctor tomorrow. I'm curious to know what these pimples are. They are either directly from the procedure or the Aquaphor.

I'll let you know what he says.

So other than the pimples, I couldn't be any happier. The results of this procedure totally exceeded my expectations.

I had active fx, by this same doctor. I am 50. I had only minimal results under eyes. None on lower face. I wonder I should have had Titan instead, which this doctor also has. The office and staff were great, however. But the procedure was not worth the time or money.

I used this doctor for Active FX.(A few months ago.) I was not at all happy with the results (or lack of). What he told me beforehand about results he is now contradicting. Initially, he said it was only necessary once, after the procedure he said it was necessary once or twice a year to see results. I had very little discomfort and peeling. He said if I did it again, at my expense, he would use higher settings. Doesn't that sort of imply he should have used higher settings to begin with. Or, should he offer to do it again on the higher settings without charging me. He has huge set up, apparently he doesn't need repeat patients. I would not use this doctor. (Now his website advertises active and deep FX used together. I may not be the only person with minimal results. At my consultation I asked him about this, he said it wasn't necessary.)I would not use this provider.

I went for my one week follow up today. I asked about the pimples and the Doctor said they were nothing. Something about the laser stimulating the oil glands. I wasn't concerned because they were pretty much cleared up today. He showed me the before pictures he took of me and the difference is amazing. He also said that my skin would continue to improve over the next 4 weeks... He took a few more pictures today. I have another follow up with him on January 30th. I'll post all my pictures when I get them from him at my next appointment. I ran into an acquaintance that I haven't seen since the summer. As she passed me in the food store, she said "WOW, you look great, you really look great" I just said "Thanks" and gave her a big smile. LOL!!!

I am glad you had success. I too had Active FX, and unfortunately had little response. Especially the lower face and neck, where I really needed the improvement. I guess everyone's skin reacts differently. I use the Obagi system with Trention (sp?!). Perhaps that did what the Active FX would have if I didn't use the Obagi system. I would recommend that, at least before anyone attempts an Active FX. It is much cheaper. (Just make sure you buy your products online rather than the doctors office where theyr cost a fortune!)Does your doctor suggest any other laser treatment if Active FX is ineffective? I notice that Pearl laser has a much more approval rating (on this site) compared to Active FX.Congratulations on your good luck!

I went for a consultation a few years back up in Boston...the doctors name is Dr. Sekel or something like that...well anyway, he puts all his patients on the Obagi system for 3 months before he recommends any procedures. So you might have a point. I am not from that area and the Obagi was around $700 for the system...so I passed on it, and just waited for the courage to get the Active FX treatment done locally. My only suggestion is that you talk to your doctor about how disappointed you are and what is he willing to do about it. I used Dr. {edited - referenced above and visible to registered users} in Doylestown and I'm extremely pleased. At first I noticed how terrific my eyes looked and now a few weeks later, I'm noticing that my jaw line is much firmer. He did say that I would see results for a month.
