The rhinoplasty using silicon is not painful, there's some bruising on the sides of the nose. No major complaints except that I hope the bridge can be higher but doctor said it would be too unnatural. The silicon is showing at the tip and some other doctors that I've consulted told me that i've to remove it to prevent extrusion but when I see my doctor, he commented that it was alright. So I'm in a fix too as I can spot the whitish part at the tip, it's especially obvious under certain lighting.

I'm 38 years old, had rhinoplasty using silicon 4 years ago, the whitish tip is showing as my skin thins. If possible, I prefer not to use my own rib for the revision, what's the disadvantage of using donated rib? Which option do you suggest? Thanks.

I would for sure use your own rib. I had to have rib put in my nose and not long after I got sick with some kind of infection. Because the tissues in my nose are my own I was fine and recovered quickly. All I know is silicone implants in your nose are really bad from what my doctor said. I would also just think that having your own rib cartiledge in your nose would be better than someone elses as your body will accept it better.

Thanks. The doctor that i've consulted recommended using own rib too but i'm worried about the pain, risk of old age if I remove part of the rib. The thought of breaking my own bone is rather intimidating too. However, I fear that the donated rib may be incompatible, my body will reject & face complications in the future.
