I have just left my final post-surgical...
I have just left my final post-surgical appointment with Dr Amira Sanki at Silkwood after having a breast lift with implants six weeks ago. I don’t know who was smiling harder during my appointment- me or Amira! I am so grateful to Amira and the girls at Silkwood for supporting me all the way through my treatment. If I had known the surgery and recovery would be so simple, I would have had the surgery years ago.
I had been thinking about doing something about my breasts since the birth of my third child four years ago. I have gone through a massive health stint in the past year to finally get myself looking and feeling like my pre-baby self again. The only area I couldn’t do anything about was my breasts. I saw a male plastic surgeon two years ago and was put off by his arrogance- I just don’t think he took me seriously. But after talking to a close friend of mine who had a similar procedure with Amira, I thought it might be worthwhile seeing a female surgeon. Talking to a female surgeon was a completely different experience to what I had two years ago. I was speaking to a woman who had gone through the exact body changes I had and knew exactly where I was coming from.
I had two consultations with Amira before the surgery. I brought my husband to the second one at Amira’s suggestion so that he could ask questions as well. Nat, Silkwood’s nurse, took my photos using the Vectra machine so that we could see exactly what I would look like with a breast lift alone or breast lift and implants. I found the Vectra really helpful in making this decision as I really wasn’t sure what I needed and I had been completely freaked out by the other surgeon’s suggestions of using Dolly Parton looking implants in me.
The surgery was a breeze. Only tricky bit was feeling a bit vomity straight after. I am a vomity person though. The anaesthetist was right on top of this- I don’t know what magic thing she put in my drip, but it worked.
The best part of the whole experience was seeing the result straight away. I woke up from the surgery with my breasts sitting high and fitting perfectly in my new 12D bra. Gorgeous. None of my friends can really pick what has changed in me, but quite a few have noticed how happy I look.
I honestly cannot remember feeling this beautiful since I was a newlywed. I am so grateful to Amira and her team. I feel sad that I don’t have a reason to see them weekly anymore…
