I had the septoplasty in 2007. At that time my nose was stuffed with packing, it was a nightmare but it did help a little when the packing was removed. On 6/18/12 I had the procedure done again, this time stents were used. My doc said my deviated septum was so bad he had to rebuild the cartlidge to make it work. The stents were removed yesterday and the difference was like night and day. I can breath through the left nostril. I believe the stents had alot to do with keeping the correction in place while it healed the first week. Yes it is painful in the beginning but nothing you can't handle.

Stents were removed on 6/25. The most painful part of the removal was the stitches. They have to wiggle around your nose a bit to get to them but once that is done, it is smooth sailing. I felt a little pressure when they removed the stents but nothing bad at all. I was amazed at how well I could breathe through my nose. I do have to use a saline spray now to keep my nostrils moist so the rest of the stitches can dissolve but that is no problem at all.

Everything stayed on schedule as promised. The doctor told me straight up that it would be a bit painful. The one time I did call the office was after hours and I didn't want to call the emergency line but low and behold, the next morning the doc himself called me to check on me.
