Post Op

Thank you all for your concerns and comments. I did see my PS today. After speaking with her 2 days ago I stopped the Bactitraicin all together and began to apply hydrocortisone cream. The rash has slowly been improving, but was very much still there today for my post op visit. She did remove the stitches and advise I continue to use mild soap and water followed by the Hydro. cream twice a day.
My post op went very well, stitches out, quick course in massage with her special serum, and out of there. :-) Still loving my decision and feeling blessed. Thank you all so much.

Post Surgery….

Well, here it is day 4. My post op appointment is on the 13th so 3 more days. It has been a ride. LOL. First the day of surgery, PS got the time confused and was over an hour late. I believe in making lemon aid :-) If you haven't heard this saying they say, "When life gives you lemons you make lemon aid" So I have wrestled with how much of this to put on here, but the truth is I believe we can learn from each others experiences. So please don't let anything here frighten you or cause you to think for a minute I may be regretting. I haven't regretted once and can not say enough how glad I am that I did this.
On the 2 dayI lost the drain on the right side. My husband was helping me and during the stripping of the tubing it pulled lose and almost out. However at the time we didn't know that was what caused the intense burning feeling. Then we realized later it wasn't holding a seal and that I had drainage on that side requiring gauze. This is also about the time I began to itch. I called my PS who advised not to worry just try it the next day and see if it had suction then. I took a shower on Friday 2nd day after surgery. I felt fine getting into the shower and advised my husband I would be alright. He was in our adjoining bedroom. While cleansing beneath my right breast I found the hanging stitch which had broken when the tube came loose. I felt a little nauseated and weak. I tried to call out to my husband, but the next thing I knew he was calling my name and trying to get me out of the pile I was in, on the shower floor. I still don't remember falling. We rinsed and cleaned and dried me as best we could. That day the tube fell out. I tried to call my PS however being after hours and a week end, all I could do was leave a message.
We did buy the insurance that covers any need for medical attention related to the surgery. However the local PS I was told could help me here locally is on vacation this week. The rash has gotten way worse and turned into a large rash with welts along the incision line. I have been reading about something called derma bond and how that could be the cause. After speaking with a nurse hot line, I was advised to clean and dry with antiseptic soap, then place tissue paper under each breast to avoid skin to skin contact. Then slowly introduce one thing at a time. We have only just started this process. So far I have placed bactracin on one small tiny spot that didn't appear to been affected by the rash. Also the drain on the left quit draining and came out today. On the positive side, I feel really good. I have been off the meds completely today. I went outside and walked around twice today. It feels so good to feel more natural and even thinner. I find I like my appearance more with each day. :-)
I would do it all again in a millisecond. God Bless you all and just know at it's worst it's a really good thing. Take care and good night all.

Dr. Vaniver was very gracious, and down to earth. She has a heart for her patients and that comes through just in the first meeting. She speaks frankly and offers the options based on her knowledge and experience. She also offers her best advise which was greatly appreciated, as then I could see we were of like minds as to how to proceed in solving my 39 yr old problems. :-)
