51 years old and I lost 110 pounds after gastric bypass 18 months ago. I have kept the weight down but no amount of exercise gets rid of the loss flabby skin. I worked to hard to still feel "FAT". and with the "hot spots" and rashes insurance is covering most of my body lift (T&T,breast, inner thighs, hips and butt)

I want all the tips on making recovery more relaxed I can get

Recovery is very slow and the 1st week you need to be in bed resting and following your doctors orders. Also swelling could be very discouraging and depressing, but do your homework so that you know what to expect.

Go to tuckthattummy.com, they have good information.

Congrads on your weight loss and the step to the new you. After surgery take it easy please do not try to rust your healing process. kwr423 is right with swelling and bruising can be very, very discouraging. I was like I should not have done it. But I am so happy and I still have swelling. Make sure you wear your compression girdle after your binder comes on the regular. Other then that I pray that you have a speedy recovery. Once again congratulations.,,

Congrats on the Weight Loss! It takes hard work and dedication! :)

I just had a tummy tuck 12 days ago. Take it easy get lots of rest and don't miss your medication for the first couple of days(painfully learned) It can be really uncomfortable. Drink plenty of water and make sure to ask for something to make using the restroom easier the pain meds can cause a little backup which you don't want to add to your already healing body Its been a challenge but I know it will be worth it in the end. :) you'll be swollen and bruised like crazy but if it helps don't look till your healing:) that's what Im doing:)

Best Of Luck

Hello and welcome to RealSelf!

First off I want to say congratulations on the weight loss!  That is wonderful and I am very happy for you.  You have worked hard and deserve this final process.  I think it is great that you are able to do this for yourself.

The first week is the worst but it gets better each day after that.  Just expect to have a long recovery but you can do it:)   You will be extremely happy after you have all of the extra skin removed.  It makes you feel like a new woman.  I have also had all three procedures done so I know you will be happy in the end. Make sure you have plenty of help the first two weeks and then plan to take it easy for the first six weeks.  No crazy Wonder Woman stunts.  Just surrender yourself to your care takers.

Stay positive, know that you will have pain, swelling and be wiped out for a while.  It is all temporary and will end.  Then in the end you will end up with a body that will make you feel good about yourself.  No amount of exercise in the world will get rid of the skin so you are correct in doing this.  Be proud of how far you have come:)

Your big day is almost here and I am sure you are getting very excited now.

I am here to support you so shoot me an email anytime.

Hugs,

Kimmers

Congrats glad your feeling good. Are you "milking" or "stripping" you drains? Sometimes clots can get caught in them and it seemed to help for me.

i find a lot of relief after a days work by laying on the recliner and icing my belly with two bags of frozen peas wrapped in a thin towel!
