Pre-Op / Surgery Tomorrow!

I had my pre-op with my surgery coordinator, Lisa, a couple of weeks ago. She explained a lot to me and gave me a handbook that was very detailed and gave me information on each of the procedures I'm undergoing. I'm receiving a breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, and labiaplasty. The handbook had lists of all the medications and vitamins I should be avoiding before surgery, so I've been trying really hard to eat only at home so I can more easily control what I'm ingesting. After we looked at the handbook and talked a bit they checked my blood pressure to make sure it looked good and I believe mine was in the lower range of normal, so I think that was good.

Surgery is tomorrow, Feb 6th, at 7:30 AM! I have my mom and s/o taking me. The facility is a couple of hours from my house so I've gotten a hotel room for us to stay in directly following the surgery. The next morning I will return to Dr. Mackenzie's office to get checked out before I head home. I'm so happy because my mom is able to come with me and she's a Nurse Practitioner so I won't have to feel as self conscious about being a wreck and my s/o won't be stuck alone with me. Plus, who doesn't love having mom there? I know they will take good care of me. I'm only scared I will say crazy weird things to them that I don't really mean, I've heard about that happening!

If I post any more pre-op pics I'll probably just do it while I'm stuck in bed the first couple of days, but I will definitely be documenting my progress from here on out.

I'm so nervous and excited, I really hope I can sleep tonight. It kind of feels like it's Christmas Eve and I'm five years old. Ha.

I found Dr. Mackenzie because my girlfriend needed...

I found Dr. Mackenzie because my girlfriend needed a ride to her post-op appointment with him, following her own breast augmentation. I had been tentatively researching the process and saving so I saw it as a good chance to see how she was treated, the environment of the office, etc. I was thoroughly impressed by her augmentation and the care she received, following. She had nothing but the highest praise for Dr. Mackenzie and his staff, and I could see why while I was at his office with her.

That visit gave me the push to more seriously research and narrow down my search for a surgeon for a Breast Augmentation and Rhinoplasty, which Real-Self made extremely easy... but of all the surgeons I was interested in, Dr. Mackenzie ended up being my first pick. I was so impressed by his work online and the staff professionalism I witnessed during my friends' post op!

When I felt I was ready to take the plunge I requested a consultation, was called shortly thereafter to schedule, and I received my first consultation yesterday!

So here was my experience with the consultation! (And I have to warn that I'll probably give an excessive amount of details but, personally, I appreciate knowing little details about others' experiences because they make me feel like I know what to expect a bit more, and help to keep my anxiety at bay. So all you detail-lovers... this one's for you.)

The office was very clean and tranquil, I filled out some paperwork explaining my medical history and the medications I was currently on. After that I met Lisa, who was my guide throughout the entire consultation. Lisa is incredibly beautiful, warm, and knowledgeable- she immediately put my mind at ease and I can tell she's a special person with a high intuition about what others are thinking or wondering, which is great if you're a nervous person like me and your mind goes blank with anxiety from time to time!

Then Dr. Mackenzie came in and gave me some information on the Rhinoplasty and Breast Augmentation procedures that he offers, and my different options as they pertained. I'm sure he probably has to deliver the same bundle of information to people all of the time, but I never felt like he was reciting a monologue or anything. He was very warm, informative, respectful, and treated me like an entire person instead of a prospective patient. Not very many Doctors can do that, in my experience.

After we talked for a bit about what my goals were for the surgeries, some measurements were taken, and I tried on a sizing bra to get an idea of the size I was looking for. Lisa took photos of my chest and face so they could give me an idea of what could be done for my breasts and nose through a 3D imaging system, and it looked incredible! Throughout all of this my questions were answered and explanations were given in perfect layman terms so I could really grasp what was going to be done to achieve my goals. Obviously, by this point I was about 300% confident that this was the surgeon for me!

After this, Lisa took me to her office so I could put down a deposit, find a date, and get a total. Earlier I had mentioned to Lisa that I was interested in Labiaplasty, but wanted to see what the price of all three procedures would be in comparison to only the Breast Augmentation and Rhinoplasty. After I saw that the price of all three procedures was within my range, Dr. Mackenzie consulted with me, explained his preferred "wedge" technique, and examined me. After this, I was totally sold and set on getting all three procedures!

So my surgery date is Feb 6th and my pre-op appointment in this coming Monday! I couldn't be happier or more excited. I cried when I found out because I have wanted these changes for so long and at time it felt like I would never reach my goal, but it's finally happening.

I have also been emailing with Lisa today because I was panicked about a check coming in behind schedule, forgot to write my pre-op time down in my excitement yesterday, etc. She has been so prompt and helpful throughout our entire correspondence, and she is a great encouragement!

Really, I can't say enough about what a great consultation it was and I'm looking forward to my pre-op appointment. Dr. Mackenzie is obviously very talented and knowledgeable and he has a great team supporting him. I'll be sure to review my entire experience with them, and I really expect it will all continue to be great.

*Note*- I've filed this review under "Breast Augmentation" since it only let me pick one, and I've included the price I was quoted for just that procedure- not including operating room fees, anesthesia, implants, garment, etc. Obviously it's important to keep in mind that your price could vary because you're a different person. This is dependent on the type of Augmentation procedure, implant, and so forth. I will try to follow this review up with separate reviews of each procedure, and maybe I will post the entire cost of the procedures, including the added fees. It seems like posting separate reviews for each procedure would make it easier for people looking for particular reviews. Hope this review has been helpful to anyone interested in these procedures, what to expect from a consultation, or considering Dr. Mackenzie as their surgeon! If you are seriously considering it and ready to take that step forward, my advice would be to call their office and get a consultation so you get a better idea of what will work for you- it is worth it!

Thanks for reading and best wishes to all of you on your journey to health and improvement! :)
