I had smart lipo on Wednesday and was in surgery from 9am to 3pm. Overall I only felt a couple times pain, and my doctor added more numbing solution. I actually slept a few times during the procedure. I had abdomen and back area done and about 3 containers of fat cells removed.

Word of warning, for first 2 days you are going to feel like a truck hit you. You need someone to be with you to help you - I was up and about yesterday day 2 but need to take it easy. First day I really hurt, couldnt get up from bed easily, bending, going to bathroom - all very hard to do - thats why you MUST have help with you.

Im all numb in the areas that I had smartlipo which is a very weird sensation. My compression garments need to stay on for 4 weeks. I didnt have too much drainage, just for first day post so not as bad as i thought.

I have none to very little bruising. Loose skin but the compression garments will help with that over the next few weeks.

Will post before and after in a few weeks.

Worth it, but be ready for a hard 2 days post op and then some challenges in first week. Getting into the shower today was hard!

Im now 11 days post surgery and feeling good. Still swollen and numb but according to doctor, that will take about 3-4 weeks to subside. Now getting used to compression garment and wearing 24 x 7. Can fit in all my clothes except my jeans! Had doctor visit on Friday and he was happy with results.

thanks sharon. Yes better but still very swollen. I didnt realize how much the recovery would take. Not regretting it but would have been better prepared.

I am planning to get a tummy tuck in april. I was just looking at this smart lipo stuff. Is it permanent? Are you happy with results? I am getting a breast lift as well. I was considering getting the smartlipo instead of tuck? What do you think has better results? Cost is not a deciding factor. Thanks in advance for your opinion.

it really depends on if you have loose skin. I just needed to get rid of stubborn tummy fat - no lose skin. i definitely see results but its early days, swelling and skin tightening seems to be part of the smart lipo healing process. I didnt need the tummy tuck and recovery from that is a lot tougher than smart lipo - i really had a tough 1st week but thats been it. You should ask your doctor if you are a candidate for smart lipo. The results are permanent - they take 80% of your fat out and it never comes back as adults we dont generate new fat cells. Smart lipo also is different from trad. lipo as the skin tightens during the 3 week healing process and wearing a compression garment.
My friend got a breast lift and tummy tuck and she needed about 8 weeks to recover. If I was you Id stagger the procedures - maybe do the smart lipo first as I said the recovery is much faster. good luck!
