I am a 41 year old woman and have had botox treatment twice in the last couple of years. It has been about a year since my last treatment. When I went for my first treatment (age 39), I had very minor wrinkles on my forehead, ones that only bothered me.

I feel that my wrinkles are worse now than they were before I started. In certain lighting and angle, there are the beginning of mounds between my eyebrows that were never there before, making me look angry or distressed.

After treatment, I had no side effects and the results for 6 to 8 months were wonderful. Unlike before botox, I was not stressing about my forehead. Very satisfied during the result period.

Is it possible that while botox numbs the superficial surface muscles of the skin, the inner layer continue to try and contract to compensate for the superficial numbed layers? Could this over-compensating causes deeper type of damage?

Most doctors will probably just tell you that all you are seeing is natural ageing. However, I too think that my forehead wrinkles are much worse than before botox.(I have worse botox problems than that though!) Before botox I had faint 11s and one horizontal line above my left eyebrow. As the botox is wearing off, I now have 8 horizontal wrinkles on my forehead. After 6 months, my 11s have not yet come back completely but I am wondering if they will be worse also. Did you get the horrible 'ripple effect' as the botox in your forehead wore off? When I raise my eyebrows, my entire forehead is thick, ropey ripples which I think is loose skin being pushed around. Just wondering if that happened to you too and if that ever went away.

I have restylane injections in the forehead lines along with botox. I find that restylane alone is often all that is needed. I have used the combo for 7 years, I am 44,and when the botox wears off the forehead is pretty smooth. In fact, it is way better than it was 7 years ago.
