Three months after the explant, life is back to...

WORTH IT$1,500
Three months after the explant, life is back to normal. If it wasn't for the scars, it is almost like the whole ordeal never happened, like it was all a bad dream.

I'm still not wearing padded bras daily, only on special occasions, it just feels more comfortable. I do feel slight pain on one of breasts, specially when wearing sports bras, but I'm guessing that will go away as I keep healing.

I feel so fortunate to be able to sleep comfortably in every position. Getting a full night sleep, being healthy, and having peace of mind beats having fake cleavage any day!

Nani!! You look great! I'm so happy for you!! :)
Thank you Chris, how are you?
You look really great! Much better than with the implants x
Thank you Andi, we have gone through a real life nightmare, but it's like they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I'm glad you are recovering well and that you feel content with your decision.
i agree with andi! you look great!!! glad youre enjoying your natural self!
Nani001 you look great!!! what size bra are you.?
Hi Preciosa, thanks : ) I'm a 34A, as before the BA.
You look sooooooooo much better now! Your breasts fit your frame! My surgery is in 5 days, on Friday, & I'm going NUTS waiting! Can't sleep, like a little kid before Christmas. Thank you all for this site & the calm it brings. You look REALLY sexy, nani! Mine have been in for 10 years & I know I'll sag & look deflated, but I'm opting for no lift...I just want to be me. Peace!
Thank you, I can relate to how you are feeling, the days prior the explant I felt like I was about to jump off a cliff, not knowing whether or not I had a parachute. Is that anxious feeling of not knowing exactly what the outcome will be. When I get a negative thought regarding my A cup, I remind myself of the pain, numbness, heaviness, and uneasiness of the breast implants and I feel free and relieved to have no heavy weight on my chest. It may be a little hard the first few weeks but keep in mind that the appearance of you breast will improve with time, at least that was my experience. Good Luck Friday!! Keep us updated on your progress : )

It's been a week since my surgery. I happy to say I'm not in pain, and my stitches will will be out tomorrow (armpit incision). I was advised to wear a bandage or a sports bra for the first month, which makes it difficult to dress for work in the morning. I would feel a lot better if I could wear a wire padded bra.

I'm in a very similar boat. I got 350cc HP implants on 3-7-12. They are too big for my 5'3", 115 lbs., petite frame. The PS has agreed to exchange or explant on 4-23 (6 wks post op). If I exchange, I would go with 200cc LP. I'm still scared that would be too big. What made you decide it was best to explant?
Hi 2busty,

I apologize for the delayed response. I decided to explant because I was miserable the whole 12 weeks I had the implants. It negatively affected all areas of my life, and to be honest I didn't even like the way the implants looked or felt inside my body. Everyone would tell me that I just had to let my body adjust and that I would get used to them, but I had to take pain medication for my back every other night, and I didn't want to risk having to do that for the rest of my life or develop other health problems. Even getting a full night sleep was difficult with the implants. The fact that in 10yrs I would go through surgery again to exchange them was an another factor given all the risks involved. I'm a spinning instructor and I also love to run, having the implants felt so uncomfortable when I exercised. I most of all I want to be healthy. My breast don't look the way they did prior to getting the implants, but I have faith that they will get better as the weeks pass. It has only been 12 days since the surgery and I'm looking forward to healing physically and emotionally.
Hi Nani. I am in the same boat as you. I have only had my implants for 7 weeks, and I am miserable. Biggest mistake of my life. I am explanting this Thursday, and can barely work from anxiety. Do your breasts look very different? Any regrets explanting? My husband is not being very supportive and is trying to get me to reconsider explanting. I'm completely miserable. :(
Hi Cris1203,

I know exactly how you feel. Explanting was the hardest decision I've ever made. I didn't want to get smaller implants and regret it. I read that the sooner you explant the better, so I decided to go for it. My husband's first suggestion was for me to go smaller, but after seeing how distressed I was, he supported me on my decision to explant. My breasts are smaller now than what they were before the implants (34A), but they have been improving as the days go by. I also lost weight while I had the implants, I'm trying to gain some back so my breasts can gain a little mass. Physically I feel much better so I can't say I regret explanting, but I have a long road to full recovery and acceptance. I hope everything goes well for you, keep me posted. Be strong!!
Thank you for sharing. I notified my PS the other day that I want to explant. I also requested he move up the surgery date if possible. I don't expect that to happen. I think he believes if I have them for 6 weeks I will someway get used to them. Good luck with your recovery.
Good luck with your surgery. I can empathize with you and your situation. My surgery date can't get here soon enough. I could not believe how many other women are in our boat. Reading their stories have given me solace.
Hi Cris 1203,

I posted some before and after fotos. I hope this helps.
Hi 2busty,

I hope you are well. I posted some before and after photos.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and pictures. I have had my implants for 1 1/2 yrs now and have never felt that they were a "part of me." I have 300hp silicone under the muscle and am constantly aware that they are there....sleeping, exercising, even hugging someone. I met with my surgeon who placed them to discuss my options and he was very supportive of whatever my decision. He thought that after talking with me, I wouldn't be any more comfortable with smaller implants. So, here I sit trying to decide if I'll make the explant surgery....so hard!! I think my situation and body frame are very similar to yours, so it is empowering for me to hear and see how you are healing after explant. My surgeon thought I would return close to my pre-augmentation form as well. I hope you are finding strength in your decision every day that passes!
My decision to get implants was based on looks and on my friends' accounts of how wonderful they are, but I never considered how they would feel in my body. Everyone will tell me I looked great with implants (at least with clothes on), but I just simply could not achieve inner peace. My focus was constantly on the sensation of having the breast implants, even at work meetings. Hugging my kids without bumps on the way was one of the things I missed the most. Whatever your decision is, I hope you find peace and contentment : )
Hi,

How are you feeling?
Nani-I couldn't agree more! I've actually scheduled my explant for 5/9 and am really excited! I am ready to just be done thinking about these things!! Everyone thinks I look great with the implants as well, but I had no idea that I would constantly be bothered by how they feel. Now that you are almost a month post explantation, how are you feeling? Are you able to work out again, or are you still taking it slow? I am trying to prepare myself for the patient healing process again....I too, really enjoy being physically active and working out.....and can't wait to get back to it and not feel the discomfort of implants while doing it :) Again....glad to hear you are doing so well!
Hi, nani001, you look great! Can you tell me the name of your Dr. who only charged you $1500. I want to have my implants removed. Thank you.
Hi Grandma M,

The doctor actually treated my explant as a re-operation, because he recommended the 375 cc implant size, and told me before the surgery that they were not going to be too big for me. What was he thinking?! So anyway, he agreed to re-place them or explant them at a minimum cost.
Hi free2bme,

I'm staring to feel like my old self again. I stated doing moderate exercise, but I'm planning to get back to doing spinning classes within the next two weeks. The nurse recommended to wait one month after the surgery before doing cardio. I hope everything goes well with your surgery, keep me posted : )
all done! Day 3 post explant and finally got to take a shower and take off the bandage and graduate to a sports bra. I have to admit....i don't regret taking them out at all....but since I've had a good look at them...I had forgotten how little tissue I had...and right now of course the skin is loose! Kinda a down day :( what i wouldn't do for a padded bra!! anyways....i'm in the adjustment phase (as well as healing) and trying to get back to normal!
Chin up! They will look empty and deflated for a little, but your skin and tissue will bounce back. You will look great!
Thanks!! Just got back from Target with a more comfortable, but tight fitting sports bra....since I have a feeling I'll be living in one of these for a bit :) I just love the support from all of you ladies...it really makes a difference!
I'm so glad I saw ur comment...I feel like I'm going crazy with my implants and all I ever here is give it time.
I want them out this is just not me...but, ps told me I have to wait 3 months...why did you have to wait? Did you see any changes during the 12 weeks u had implants in such as the so called dropping and fluffing?
Kim, I would like to hop in...ive felt.like tHat and forced myself to keep them linger. I am now 8 mioths into it and still feel.the sane.emotionally however they look mych better and.do not physically feel.them as.much with every mive. It only makes it harder waiting because I like to look, its just not me so now I am stuck in a catch 22.
Thanks for writing back...I want mine out!
PS made me feel terrible...this is just not me
Hi Kim,

How long have you had them? The PS said I had to wait because there was more risk going through a second operation sooner. However, I've read in this forum that some PS do it sooner.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm glad you're on the other side of this surgery. Having had the implants for only 12 weeks, I can't imagine your breasts will look much different than they did before surgery. I'm just sorry you had to go through all that.

Here's to au naturel. I'm proud of you for following your heart!

I hava my explant appointment scheduled for March 21, Im getting very anxious and scared. I have only had the implants for 12 weeks and I have suffered physically and emotionally since. However, I'm having second thoughts about not replacing with a smaller implant. I'm 5'0, 100lbs and got 375cc. Any thoughts?

Good luck with your surgery on Wednesday! Keep us updated on your progress.

Hi Kristy,

The surgery went well thank you. I didn't get smaller implants, now I'm just trying to cope with my self image. The nurse told me that my breasts should improve in appearance as time goes by. I'm really hoping they will, since the are smaller now than what I started with. Thank you for your support.
Hi, I have had implants for 17 year and I wish I never had them. Sleeping is very hard and I will have my explant in a week, but my Surgeon recommended mastopexy, but I don't think I want any extra surgery. Has any one had this procedure done? Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Hi, I had my implants removed and a mastopexy last month. If you like, I would be happy to answer any questions you have. Feel free to e-mail me or you can just post.
Also, you can check out my review for additional information. I've been out of town for two weeks though so I need to update it. Will be working on that over the next few days so you might want to check it out towards the weekend.
Hi, I decided against the mastopexy the day before the surgery. Just got cold feet, but feel that I made the right choice. Thanks for offering advice.
I live not far from San Antonio, I have had them in for 32 years, now they are leaking. I am worrried about how it will look afterwards. Did you have a BL as well? I shouldnt care at 67, but I do. Thanks for any help I can get.
I'm sorry to hear that. I didn't get a lift, I'm thinking I might not need one since my breasts are quite small.
I hope your urgent went well.
Hello Delabryne,

No complications so far. It's been a week and I have returned to my daily activities. I'm bummed I have to wear a sports bra for the first month, I will feel a little better when I can wear a wire bra with padding. Thank you for caring : )
