I've always had long, super thin lips (thanks for the genes, Dad) and I've always wanted full, or at least NORMAL lips. When I would smile in pictures, all you could see was skin and teeth... I looked like some sort of villain from a comic book.
I began getting filler in my lips when I turned 18, but it just never looked right on me. Lip filler looks great on some people, but my lips were just too long! I moved to Little Rock in 2008 and immediately began looking for a doc to do my lip filler. I saw on Dr. Yee's website that she is a trainer for some fillers, so I thought maybe she would have a different way of doing the filler. Soooo, I made an appointment and I met with Dr. Yee and loved her! She did my lip filler that day and I loved the results!
After a few more times, she asked me if I had ever thought of a more permanent fix. I honestly didn't know much bout lip implants, and told her I didn't want to look like one of the Real Housewives of Wherever! She laughed and assured me that she would never do that! She went over the PermaLip implants with me, and I was intrigued. She pulled out a pair of the implants, and I kid you not when I say they looked like gel worms! I was a little unsure, but when she told me they came in a "long" size I was sold!
I went in a few months later to get the implants. I'm a Nervous Nancy, so I made her explain exactly what she was about to do to me. First, she used a local (like a dentist?) to numb the area. Then she cut tiny incisions on the side my lips at each end. Insert the implant, pull through the lip, sew up, and DONE! I have to say, it was a little painful the next day but nothing I couldn't handle... And the mashed potato/cookie dough milkshake diet helped ease the pain :)
After a couple of days, the swelling was down and WOW! I cannot tell you how amazed I was, and still am, at how my lips turned out! They look so natural, and even my husband said that he likes the implants and he was unsure in the beginning! It has seriously been one of the best decisions ever! I have way more confidence when I take pictures, and my family doesn't call me "Lizard Lips" anymore! I would do it over a 100 times.
I'm going back to see Dr. Yee for something else in a few weeks (will post about it soon) and I'll get pics of my lips to post. I can't wait to see her and her staff again!
